Exclamation Whats better 2011 LLT or 2012 LFX?

I was wondering if the LFX is a significant improvement over the LLT engine. Is GM upgrading or downgrading the quality of 5th Gen engine now that they have a big demand. I don't want read a bunch of GM press releases but objective opinions from enthusiasts or car mags.

LFX is very much a significant improvement. Reduce weight, more efficient, and more horsepower hardly ever come in one package engine wise.

I wouldn't say it's a significant improvement. It's got 11 more HP, which probably won't make much of a difference, and no increase in TQ, which is what this car really needs. It has integrated exhaust manifolds, so it's less customizable e.g. no headers.

Not that I'm happy about it but something went wrong in my 4th cylinder and the dealership is giving me a brand new engine! It's happening right now. I'm getting the new LFX. I'm hoping I can feel those 9 extra horses. I just hope she runs as good as she did 2 weeks ago before the problem arrose.

Fingers are crossed but stoked to be getting a new engine.

Fair enough

But it is still a good improvement. More horsepower and less weight would make me happy

Buy the new one. Nothing wrong with the old one if you find some great deal on a new '11, but otherwise I vote '12.

If you can, get the new LFX. But that's just my opinion. Nothing against the LLT, and overall I really don't think there is a difference.

I can't wait for 2 V6'ers to get together, one with each engine, and duke it out. AFAIK there are no road tests on the LFX yet.

LFX definitely. More power more efficient. The 2012 is really a nice model. I loved my 2010 but my 2012 is just nicer.

My understanding is the LFX cannot replace the LLT (because of the exhaust manifold/ integrated headers), so while you are getting a new engine, I don't think it will be the LFX.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but i don't "think" I am.

LFX can run ethanol. with a tune there could be some potential. Very limited on exhaust mods.

An LLT with LT headers would be tough to beat.
