whipple issues

I installed a whipple on my 2010 SS while it was getting tuned I had an injector fail, I replaced the injector but have not had the time to get it back to the shop and on the dyno. The issue I'm running into is if I got wot the car falls on its face and backfires. Normal driving everything is fine. Anyone have a similar issue? If so what fixed the issue? My mods are LS9 cam, tsp long tubes 2" primaries, magnaflow catback with no cats, cai, tuned, and 3.875 pulley. Thanks in advance

Yeah. I've been easy on it. It goes back to the tuner Saturday to see what exactly the issue is. I think we are going to monitor the fuel pressure to make sure my fuel pump is able to keep up. If not it looks like I'll be getting a ZL1 pump and fpcm installed. Right now I'm crossing my fingers the tune will fix it

Your tuner should be seeing this right away. I don't know who your tuner but that is the most crucial part of your build cause you can put the best of everything in your car and a wrong tune or not enough fuel can ruin everything instantly. If your pump cant keep up he should have seen this on the first pull and addressed it immediately. Id be very careful evaluating your tune with fuel so nothing happens cause it can be very expensive very quick running out of fuel and going lean.

Do you have a BAP (boost-a-pump) installed by chance? If not, then I seriously doubt the stock pump is going to keep pace with the additional fuel demands. I highly recommend ordering the ZL1 pump and ADM FPCM, time now, at a minimum. As others have stated, the motor will go to hell in a hurry under load AND running lean. Let us know whaty you find...

Yeah I do have the msd boost a pump that came with the system but was told it's only good for 600-650 rwhp. I made 670rwhp. I have a highly recommended tuner working on it so hopefully he can get it fixed

Went to the tuner today, he messed around with the tune and everything seems good to go. Car pulls hard, fuel pressure looked good didn't dropped off. 670rwhp/585rwtq

Your asking for trouble running 670rwhp on the stock pump. BAP or not.
Torque sounds low as well for a PD blower. I'm pushing 630rwhp with LPE twins and 850cc injectors and wouldn't run it with anything less.

have the exact same mods as you except for zl1 pump, adm fpcm, with 65 lb injectors, similar numbers, except im running water methanol, at 67 percent injector duty cycle, water methanol would really help in your case, or even e85.

my friend has exact same setup with bigger cam, ported heads running 680 rwhp with stock pump, boost a pump, my tuner told him he was really pushing his luck.

So today after we went through the tune everything seemed great then today I get into it and bam it falls on its face pops, blows black smoke runs rough for a few seconds then clears up and ran fine. The service engine light did flash for about a min but went away. I checked codes and found none. Got into it a few miles down the road again and it ran great. It's very weired almost like another injector is sticking. (When I first installed it I had a bad injector and whipple replaced it)

Ok one more time. Your not getting enough fuel! You are gonna blow it up! I would upgrade fuel system and injectors then enjoy the car. Just trying to help.

+1.

Sounds like there is just no fuel up top and this is asking for trouble.

I already have 65# injectors, going to order a pump today. If I go with a ZL1 pump do I need anything else? I see a fpcm mentioned
