I Crossed the Streams and Ruined My Rim

Just a note of caution ( already knew not to mix products but boom did it anyway )

I have many car cleaning products but these two are very similar color (blues to be exact)

So I grabbed the Chemical Guys Blue Guard dressing (thinking I was grabbing the Blue Chemical Guys Wheel and Rim Cleaner) and sprayed it all over the rim and tire to clean it. Given the shinyness I saw I knew it wasn't the cleaner and I paniced and quickly sprayed the cleaner right on top of it. Well it ate the finish off my 1500 mile old Camaro

Not the products fault but a sucky lesson, will be more certain what products I was using and not just pick by color again.

Wow... considering both are used for the wheels general, outcome is ridiculous. And both are by chemical guys. Perhaps they need to redesign the chemicals.

Wow. That really sucks. Sorry that happened.
It is surprising that it ate the paint off like that.
What would happen if it got on your skin or car.... yikes!

"Crossing streams" when I grew up meant something completely different.

Hmmmm. Were the wheels hot? The Blue Guard is an Oil-Based Plastic/Rubber dressing. I find it very strange that a dressing (which is made for tires too) would eat off the finish of the wheels.

Something doesn't seem right.

For sure ! Something went VERY wrong. I cleaned the other rims with just the Blue cleaner and everything was normal.

Didn't see toxic but maybe it was. More like the perfect storm of conditions. Either way, yeah it hurt
