R1 discs who's got em?
I ordered the cross drilled and slotted discs front and rear, with the Hawk ceramic pads. They go on Friday. The guy at R1 said the pads were a step down from the stock ones, but they don't make a ton of noise like the Brembo pads do. Opinions?

Dont you lose braking performance due to the loss of surface area(drilled and slotted)? Sorry, new to this

Didn't have them on their website for some reason. I called and talked to them directly.

The opposite is true for the discs being drilled and slotted. The disc stays cooler and lets out the dust better. Cooler discs stop better.

I'm not totally useless..

I would not call the Hawk Ceramics a step down. Every pad has its own characteristics. The Hawks Ceramics have equal stopping power but less initial bite and need a tad bit of heat in them to come alive. I have never been able to make them fade either whereas the stockers did....
Just be careful not to cook them when you are bedding them in. They will get noisy for awhile if you do. But it will go away as they wear in. It is easy to cook the rears with the way GM has the brake bias set for low-to-medium brake pressures which is where you spend most of your time when starting the bedding process. Just take some extra time in between brake applications to allow for cool down.... You will LOVE the reduced dusting!
