How often should we do a complete detail on the Camaro?

I've heard we're supposed to do this every 6 months? Any truth to that?
Right now I wash my car weekly. I wax it monthly and when the time comes should I do a complete and I mean complete detail to it every 6 months? I've only had the car for 10 weeks. Thanks in Advanced!

There are quite a few variables on this one. I would say it depends on such things as what conditions you drive in, how many miles, kept inside or outside, etc. I would think if you're waxing every month, you're keeping it pretty clean anyway and it won't need a major detailing very often. This is probably more of a preference of the individual.

It is all personal preference. If you like your car clean as show room condition than clean it. There are no set rules. As long as you are not using an aggressive clay or polish every time you touch the car you could do an extensive detail every weekend but that of course take a lot of time. If that is something your significant other is not to happy with then I suggest doing it only when dirty or take it to a professional but than that costs money. LOL

No set rules here at all. As stated already depends on YOUR conditions and the way YOU Drive.

My 2LT/RS looks as well if not better than when I brought it home in October. It has had two coats of wax on it before I put it away for the winter.

If you are maintaining it like you are saying, I would detail it once or twice a year. I do mine in the Spring and then just before I put my 3rd car away for the winter. The Interior I clean as needed and treat the leather at least monthly. Windows I clean as needed so that is more often for me.

Good Luck!

I do twice a year and use a wash in between that adds shine polymers.

I've heard that once a season is good. Not too often to be obsessive, but enough to ensure the paint is protected. Actually, the heat of the summer seems to deteriorate the wax/polish much faster, so another application in the summer would be better.

Something to consider is the wax/polish you're using when determining how often to detail your car.

Some products will recommend once every 6 months for a "daily driver, once a year for "weekend toys".

Also, what are the conditions where you live? If you're in a colder climate where the roads are treated, you might consider detailing more often.

At the very least, I'd do a good thorough detailing in the Spring, and then again in the Fall...and add coats of wax/polish in between to protect your paint.

I use Zaino wash and gloss spray once a week, depending on how dirty it gets. I do a complete detail, inside and out, cleaning every nook and cranny once every month and a half. Zaino polish, tire gloss, leather cleaner, leather softener, vacuuming, etc. Its garage kept, but I want this thing to be as protected and lookin good as possible. I figure this thing is a major investment and needs to be upkept well. A lot of work, but well worth it when you drive on the street afterwards. : )

Poorboy's QD+ is an amazing quick detailer and with the added wax really adds great shine and depth to the vehicle between washes. The price is damn good as well. Also available in 16, 32, and 5 gallon jugs for any pros out there.
