radio and ambient lighting wont shut off!

Does anybody have a clue to why my radio and dash lights will not shut off when the car is off and the key is out of ignition. This happened when I first got the car, but went off after a few hours. It's been a couple of months and now it's back again. The radio wont play anything and you can't even make phone calls. WTF!

I had that happen to me once in my 2SS but only once. It was the strangest thing, got a lot replies like "it's on a timer" blah blah blah well I know how things are supposed to work and this was NOT normal to get out of the car and still have the radio playing with the doors locked. I just farted around with the door locks and opened and closed the doors for a while and then it went off.

It hasn't happened since so I'm not worried about it right now. It might be a problem in the future but for now, ehh no big deal.

I'd say your problem is a little different now and I would take it in and explain the problem. No other answer.

Yes, it is on a timer - until you open the driver's door. And, the DAB timer is 10 minutes! Take her in!!

Might have to take it to dealer in morning. Hopefully battery won't be dead. With key out of ignition, all doors have been opened and even with them opened and the key out, the ambient lighting and the radio lights still remain on. The radio is not playing nor will it play, just the lights stay on. Thanks for the reply's.:mad02 59::m ad0259: :b s:

Its probably just a bad door sensor. The retained accessory power leaves power for the radio and windows and stuff after you turn off the ignition as it has done on most all GM cars since the early 90's, if you have a bad drivers door switch or sensor then it won't shut off. But its on a 20 minute timer to keep from killing the battery anyway. No worries, I'm sure its an easy fix for the dealer.

Mine did it once and I chalked it up to I had the interior/ABL switch turned all the way up. Once I moved it down a small bit they went out. Maybe it was coincidence but it has never happened again.
