Launching modded auto

Hello guys just wanted to get some ideas on improving my launches I have a cam LS3 conversion and a built tranny with a circle D 3600 Stall I have been racing on the stock tires and getting no traction so I got 18 vette rims and getting MT drag radials to help that. My question is guys with about the same setup stall wise where are you guys leaving at rpm wise? I have found with the big stall leaving at idle seems to work the best but not sure when I get the DR. Also guys running DR what pressure do you run? Do you go around the water box or do a nice long burn out? never run DR before so just trying to get ideas.

Flash the converter from ~1200 Rpms and see how it does. Then try launching it higher/lower and see how it effects your 60' times.

Yeah idle...but the cam may want to be smoothed a bit then flash it. Depends. Also depends on track prep. Seat time x100.

Interesting.. I've launched many stalled autos and always done better launching around 1000-1200 Rpms. Those were all trucks/suvs though. Can't argue with those guys though, there settings records so definitely doing it right.

Take it to the track and let us know how you do!

What he said. ^^^

For psi on MT DR's, I usually run 18 and don't go lower.

Good luck!

I've tried my 305-45-18's as low as 15 psi cold.

I'd recommend not going lower than 16 psi cold, at 15 the car wandered a bit.

yup...15-16 was loose...didn't hook as good at my power either. You need to test but my money is you will like somewhere between 18-20 hot.

No one answered one of your questions about the water box so I will tell you what I always did. I would always try to go around the water box since I had full size front tires. You don't want to put water on the starting line for your rear tires to drive through as well as other drivers. Then back into the water box. Pull just outside the water box where its still kinda wet and damp and do your burnout. The burnout will really depend on your tires. My NT555R's had to have alot of heat in them and a long burnout. I have been told MT's just need a short burnout to clean them off.
