This is only a temporary mounting until I can find or someone makes a hideaway plate mount that I like. I simply looped a ty wrap thru the two existing mounting holes on the factory mount and thru the lower grille. Bringing the two ends of the ty wrap together on the plate side of the mount so the connection ends up in the screw hole of the mount. The ground effects make impossible to do anything from in behind the grille.

I installed the Swift manual mount on my Camaro. And so far it works fine. There are also other threads on the forum for other types or mounts.

Just so you guys know (and im pretty sure this is the case in most states/provences where a front plate is mandatory... could be wrong in some cases though, someone feel free to correct me)... but if you're mounting your front plate off to the side, as many of you have been doing, you might as well not mount it at all. It's just as 'illegal' as not having a plate. It has to be in the center, front most part of the vehicle.

I checked with Maryland MVA about front plate installation and they sent me back an excerpt from the regulations which stated only that it had to be mounted on the front and it had to be secure. It did not state it had to be centered. This may vary from state to state so it would be a good ideal to check for your home state.

Optional: cut a short piece of vacuum hose and put a slit so it goes around the top of the plate bracket to protect your paint.

Note the Plate Bracket mounts LOWER and shows more front facia.

GREAT! Thanks so much!

Removing front licence bracket

My dealer admitted they shouldn't have installed the bracket and told me they'd take care of it. Either by giving me a special chrome vanity SS plate or send it to the body shop.

The car will be a garage kept Sunday driver only and I have some concerns about the repair not matching or lasting.

Has anyone else ran into this?

WyleCoyote,

Thanks for checking in MD. I bought the show and go bracket and like where you installed it. It looks like it doesn't hang down any further than the lowest part of the front panel. Have you had any problems scraping on the ground?
