Same here as of 07/16/2009. I gave them a screen print of the page where the update is listed (for your VIN) but they couldn't locate the download. A call is in to GM. Stay tuned (pun intended)

So do you think the with this update the car will be able to read the 10,000 songs from a USB drive like it says inthe manual??

Don't think so. From what I've read that would require a memory allocation that the PDIM doesn't have at this time.

Is there any chance this kind of update can be applied by us, the end users, through the USB port by downloading the files onto a memory stick? If not now, any chance of that ability being added in the future? I would imagine that it wouldn't be much different than updating the firmware on a Blu-ray player, something that the end users are expected to do.

That would definitely be convenient, and the module does support this. We would just have to work through the logistics of delivering the updates to customers, educating them on how to do it and then doing thorough testing to make sure that people aren't bricking their PDIMs in the process. So hopefully this will be available in the future, but I can't say for certain that it will be.

While it would be convenient i seriously doubt it would ever happen. The general public is way too stupid, and I am sure GM will end up with a pile of bricked PDIMs within 2 weeks.

This all goes back to the cell phones we were talking about and custom ROMs. How long before someone creates a custom PDIM ROM for our cars?

Hey codeman71
Re: USB format...

What is the recommended format for a USB drive or SSD drive
ex. Create folders, then put playlists in the "root".
What about Jukebox format ? What about ID3 ?

Asking in advance, I'll have my car in days

Yea, put your songs into folders. It won't read it if there's too many in the root. Playlists can be M3U and in the root of the drive. Other formats might work as well but I've tried and used that method. Here's some more info.

codeman71 - Can you let us know when the "next software version" (v3?)after this initial update (v2?) is available? If there is a new version coming out later this month that the factory will be using, I'll just wait to take mine in for service and jump from straight from v1 to v3 and skip this v2 update.

So is it safe to say that if my car is produced in August it will have version 3? Which of course by then, we will all be wanting version 4 of course.

Yeah I definitely will. I will probably also have to rely on you guys to let me know when your dealer is able to see the update for your VIN. I'll do what I can on my side, but ultimately the dealer will have to let you know when they see the updates.

Thanks.

I'm going to post a screenshot here so I can reference it later to know when there is a new update listed on the website.
