I am going to order an AMS 1000 when I get home... Would it help to go ahead with that and set the turbo's up with it rather than using the springs since we have it apart... If so, I'll see if I can go ahead and order it from out here and have it drop shipped unless you have a good contact for that.. Precision??? or one of your other contacts... Cheapest I've found it is a lil over 950.00

Do you have the pieces we need to add in the oil cooler/s so that we can move that big goofy looking oil cooling thing off the block and away from the Turbo's... If not, can you order that as I'm not sure what to get, and maybe re-evaluate the location of one or if needed, two oil coolers... If you feel comfortable with it, go ahead and order the oil cooler/s after you figure out the size we need and how to mount them...
I was looking at the AEM TRU-BOOST gauge.. but this AMS-1000 looks awesome... do you think it is worth it to go AMS.... the other seems to do what I was looking for.. electronically control the boost... but I have not really gone indepth in reviewing and comparing the two.... thoughts?

and what is up with this oil cooler?
It is in the way?... it is on the back of your block?
I think mine is near the radiator.

Am I reading it correctly that the turbos are giving off too much heat and are heat soaking the oil coolers?

I think we are going to have the same turbos Robert... time to compare notes..... and by that I mean... help me out with Coreys secrets. ahhaha

If i remember from the pictures, isnt your oil cooler right next to the transmission? We put mine right above the intercooler behind the front bumper. Havent had any issues with the turbos heating up and getting them messed up. hope its not something i might be dealing with in the future!

Depends on what you want to do. The AMS-1000 is the best boost controller out there (at least until the AMS-2000 comes out... soon).

If you are are really serious about competitive racing, then the AMS-1000 is the way to go. If you're going to be doing 95% street driving with occasional track says and money is an issue, then you can get a much less expensive boost controller that will do most of what you want.

Kyle, it's almost scary that all the stuff you're looking at is exactly what I was researching at about a month ago.

Kyle,

my oil cooler at this point is the little multi plate design from the factory... My oil temps run a little high for my comfort zone so Corey and I have been discussing this for a while... We are getting rid of those factory pieces and installeing a radiator style oil cooler up near the intercooler...

As for the AMS 1000, it is according to those that know, Corey, Ted Janetty, Bruce, etc... the way to go for the ultimate in control... It has some amazing features... It's a lil pricey, but you get what you pay for... I wonj't even go into all the different things it will do, but it's extensive... I know you can control the boost levels based on RPM, speed, time etc... you can ramp it up... run higher boost in succesively higher gears as your traction issues lessen with speed... etc..... Lots more, those are just the very basic basics...

As above, the oil cooler is that funky looking multi-plate deal on the side of the block... It's one of those things that if you don't know what it is, it makes you say... hmmm, what's that....My biggest problem with it is is right up against, possible touching the external turbo housing.... I'm not liking that... and I want to cool my oil beeter so... remote near the intercooler...

Don't you want to wade through all the little tidbit of wisdom and silliness that are my build thread?

If I can swing it, I'll get the AMS-1000... if I can't... I'm thinking of an e-boost 2.

@ Robert...

I see on the oil cooler... that makes sense... i already got a new one up front... so i should be good there.

and like i mentioned... really need to research.. i want something reliable and worry free... but i do not need everything you listed.... but then again... if i am running the 1/4 or more... I dont want to have to reach over to my controller mid race and try to crank the boost once i grab traction either... hahahahha

and i only have 4 gears... heheheheh

not the best picture but this is where I mounted mine. I have a bigger radiator on the way since its mounted in front of mine, but I wont go above 250F on track days.

Here is a pretty good thread about boost controllers. I'm not sure it gives a definitive answer, but it has some interesting info.
