I have done it once myself but had no idea he was behind me at the time but a few blocks later when he finally caught up [ I had slowed down] he let me know I dusted him and then let me go. No ticket, said I was blowing the plugs out.

Don't mean to bump a really old thread but this kid is my nephews room mate. He was fined $8k and served 7 months and had to give up his car which he just purchased back for $9k. Great justice system huh?? And he had a 16 year old girl in the car when he ran too. His parents bought him a new boat and car and house when he got out of jail. Yes. He drives even though he lost his licence for 2 years.

When I was a LOT younger (1986), I had a Yamaha FJ-1100.

Nowadays I give myself a

for this, but back then I definately went fast. A lot.

One time I was going up a hill behind about 10 cars. Speed limit was 35, but the entire group was going about 20-25. The road was absolutely straight, and there were no cars coming, so I gunned it. I was probably doing about 120 by the time I got past the last car. As I passed it, I -thought- it might have had round hubcaps. I was going about 140 by the time I topped the hill and glanced in my rear view mirror. It's possible I -might- have seen a blue light. I was close to home, so I immediately headed that way as fast as I could and stowed the bike away for the rest of the day. 2 weeks later, I found out that a friend was behind the cop at the front of the line, and that I was gone before the cop even had a chance to accelerate and put on his lights.

Another time I was heading from Oak Harbor, WA to Seattle, WA...about a 1:15-1:30 hour trip. I made it in about a half hour. That included a stop under an overpass after I passed a cop on the other side of I5 that I think may have seen me...so I pulled over for 5 minutes. Don't know if he was looking for me or not.

As I said though, young and stupid. I got my fair share of tickets, and was also arrested and jailed for reckless driving (7 days in jail).

yes, he deserved everything he got, and in fact they should have done a bit more to the cocky little scumbag.

Oh yea. He didn't even have a licence when all that happened. He has lost his licence many times but his parents have money and keep bailing him out. He is now driving that evo around selling drugs. No licence still.
