"dimples" on my car???
I have dents that remind me of dimples going across the top of my fenders on both sides and the top of the "hips" of my camaro... I have no clue how they got there and i notice them everyday....
Will the dry ice method work to pop these out? what about the "pops-adent? or should i take it to a Paintless Dent Removal place... i have alot of these and dont wanna get charged up the ying yang... i hav a theory that its from people leaning up on my camaro like there elbows and stuff maybe idk thanks Last edited by tmac1granger33; 10-12-2010 at 11:35 PM. |

@#$%ing robots!!!
I noticed dimples in mine in the exact same place. Cameras won't pick them up. The body shop said they'll try "glue pulling" them. If that doesn't work, they'll go at them from the inside by drilling holes and pushing them out(paintless dent repair). I told them there was no way in hell I was going to let them drill into my car. I'll live with the dimples before they ever touch it with a drill. |

I know my 2001 SS had this problem, but didn't think the 2010's did. When you say dimples .. how big/small are they? I do have fish eyes and other crap in the paint ...

Mine also has one of these, and in the past years it has been an f-body flaw.
Subframe connectors stop it. Its a weak spot in the car. Torque and acceleration make it worse. |

Try to get a pic of the location and circle it. I have a similar one and trying to see if its in the same spot. I have no clue where mine came from and was about to take it to the dealer telling them to fix it. |

I found one on my 2011 too! But I think it was from someone leaning on the fender. These camaro's (and most all new vehicles) have really thin skin! Doesn't take much to dimple them just by leaning over the fender. I would just go and have it pulled out by Dr Dent or like.

It really depends on the location of the dent and what they have to do to access it. I've had to have a small hole drilled in a previous car inside the door jam to remove a pretty nasty rock hit I took on the freeway. The small hole they drilled and plugged was a small price to pay for improving the dent. The shop would be able to tell you if they'd have to drill before they did any repairs, and I'd definately ask to be sure. I'd also use an experienced dent removal place that isn't the dealer's body shop, unless of course they're paying for it.

Also, those guys can take out a hell-of-a-dent. The only time it becomes to tuff, is when the dent is on a body crease in the sheet metal, or to close to an edge. Also, the size of the dent can also be an issue.... As far as dry ice goes, yes it works. But you need a real hot day so that the sheet metal can be sitting in the sun and getting hot enough to fry an egg (say 98 or so). That way the dry ice can work. Best bet is paintless repair IMHO. |
