Too keep such a beautiful car in such good condition for so long. I mean.. I want to take care of my baby when I get it next year, but I don't know that I will be able to keep it looking like new for 30 years!

That's how I felt about my Z28...even after the day it was totalled. I wanted it fixed sooo bad. Ah well...we'll try round two w/ the

5th GEN!!!

I sure hope I'm able to end up like that...

I'm guessing there are a few more than 1,700 left. They made 84,877 Z/28s in 1979. And we've just accounted for three of them; the one in the article, Dragon's dad's and mine.

Good read though.

Me too. I bought a '95 Z28 back in '97 and swore I'd never get rid of it. I did some stuff to it with the intention of building it up pretty good. Then I decided to trade it in for my '02 back in '03 and started all over. I promised I wouldn't get rid of the '02 because I've invested about three times as much money in this car so unless I have to sell it to afford the new one, I hope to keep this one until I die. I am thinking I'll love the new car to keep it too.

Those cars were junk. For some reason they were my first love and I actually thought they were fast. I guess they were for back then but jeez those things are turds by todays standards.

Still, in a sick sort of way I have always liked them.

I fixed the "turd" in mine. 375 hp is a little better than the original 170 hp. Still has the original motor, just good internals, head work, headers, intake, carb and exhaust.

Don't be hating on the 2nd gens, my friend...we wouldn't want you to 'dissappear'.

I happen to like them VERY much.

I had a 77 Trans AM and it was one of the best cars I have ever owned. I did have an 83 Z/28. Now that was junk.
