I mean my post was clearly and obviously a joke, but whatever.

OP do you have a friend with a truck like that and you wanna know if you could beat him? If you do, then give us the specs on his car and then we can make more of an accurate guess to who would win if you got some nitrous.

Sounds like somebody knows somebody with a V6 who got their butt kicked by a diesel, and wants to make sure it doesn't happen to him.

Some of those diesels out there can get moving really quickly.

Horsepower is calculated from torque and horsepower is your top end and torque is mainly your bottom -mid rpm range how its measured. You have to look at what's the best case for that type of race if its a circle track then you want lots of hp as you are going to spend a lot of time in high Rpms where your torque or bottom end doesn't really mean squat. A drag race my money goes on the torque. The more toque you have the better you launch and the faster you GET TO speed. Cuz lets face it a 1/4 mile drag shouldn't be but a few seconds. Why do you think a turboed Honda can't hit 14.0 sec in the 1/4 but will smoke you on the interstate? Horsepower is for selling cars, torque is for winning (1/4 mile) races IMO. I'd say you two are going to be close but you should get him by all means, he is a heavy slab of non aerodynamic weight.

Look at it this way. My stock F150 weighs about 5500 lbs and has 365 HP and 420 TQ from the factory. That's the same torque (give or take) as the SS Camaros. Who do you think would win in the 1/4 mile; me or a SS Camaro? Who do you think would win me or a stock V6 Camaro? THE CAMARO regardless of engine. There's a lot more to being quick in the 1/4 th mile than just torque and hp. Besides, if you are making over 400 HP with that shot, don't you think your torque is up there as well? How do you increase HP without increasing TQ? Did you increase the rev limiter 2000 RPM?

Torque wins races. Period. Unless you're running on an airstrip.

Faster.... NO

quicker... (Which is what you're REALLY asking)... Maybe. Depends how far you're racing. My diesel truck will jump a lot of cars from a street start but falls off about 100. Starting from a stop, it's not that impressive either bc the turbo lag. My truck is about 350hp and 600tq. It's stock.

Not correct, I have raced a newer F150 and beat it (Barely) that was stock v6.

I have yet to race this guy I am in the future I just want to make sure I can beat him.

Peek this thread, the guy I am racing against says "All Camaros suck, they are slower then sin, I can beat a supercharged v8 camaro so your v6 will be hitting 50 km and I'll be at 150"

Its really getting on my nerves so I challenged him to a race and this is where we are at.

You do realize you should make more than 355 TQ at the crank with a 150 shot, right???

Dynos measure torque. Then they calculate the horsepower from the torque using this formula: HP=TorquexRPM/5252. If you study the formula, you'll see that any engine that peaks below 5252 will make more torque than horsepower. Any engine that peaks above 5252 will make more horsepower than torque. And at 5252, torque=horsepower, no exceptions.
Some things to consider:
1: Horsepower owes it's existence to torque.
2: You can have torque without horsepower, but you can't have horsepower without torque.
3: Horsepower is just a way of expressing high speed torque.
4: Would you rather your engine make something that you can measure or something you can calculate?
