Oh, c'mon. Are you joking? (I have a sneaking suspicion...)

Because of a single used 'vette, you're going to stop buying all GM products? Or better yet, after cruising these and other forums, and knowing how much work has been put into the quality, detail, and overall kick-assiness of the new Camaro, you're not going to be looking at that because of one lemon Corvette? Please...

Again, I think you're joking...at least I hope so. So I'll save you the speech about how GM's not the old GM anymore. About how they don't make the same quality products, and that the 'Vette could, and probably IS a lemon which reflects in no way on the rest of the company's product line, not to mention is was a used car to begin with.........

hrmmmmmmm.

No I am not joking, & its not just because of the vette either, we have had problems with almost all of our vehicles. Personally I would love to stay with the company but the electical problems that run with these cars our getting to the point were we cant afford to take them to the shop everytime something goes wrong with them. Parts are not getting any cheaper.

Well, then I apologize for thinking you were. I just figured...you would be one of the last people to go through this "routine".

I still think that this Vette is a lemon. And keeping in mind that you don't own ANY GM products beyond 2000 (according to your signature)...I would encourage you to keep an open mind for the time being. None of them can accurately reflect on GM's current lineup. If performance cars are your thing; then chances are you won't find one with any better quality than the Camaro. I don't know if you've driven or sat in, etc any of GM's new cars...they aren't lacking in the quality dept, either. Give those a shot, and then start making decisions about buying one of those-...hrm, hrm... a Toyota.

Don't jump onto the Toyota bandwagon expecting superior quality to current GM products. That's a mistake, and a misperception if I ever heard one.

Take it from someone who used to work at a Toyota dealership: The problems you're having with your Vette make it a lemon. Being used, you simply don't know what the previous owner did to it. And being that your newest car is 8 years old, you have to understand age does impact cars. It won't be as reliable as a new car. Now if it was a Toyota on the other hand, you'd be getting off light. I worked at the dealership during the summer of endless recalls. If you can go a month without taking a newer Toyota in to get fixed, you're very lucky. My grandma insisted on buying one on my discount against my warnings because she was told Toyotas were high quality and reliable. Her car goes in to the shop every few weeks with a computer problem now.
I hate to be blunt, but judging a product coming out a year from now based on an 8 year old previously used product is as illogical as it gets. Likewise, judging another company based on their reputation from 8 years ago (when they really did represent quality) only sets you up for disappointment.

My 05 taco has yet to be in the shop for more than an oil change (at the proper intervals), now the techs at Toyota leave something to be desired. Since its my wifes truck she takes it in and they are always bothering here and upsetting her saying that she needs new brake pads (I looked at them myself well over 60% pad left), tranny fluid change, coolant change, and some such. I always check them when she comes home, because she knows better than to just pay without letting me check(heck I've done engine swaps and tranny rebuilds). I do all my own maint on my cars, she just prefers to have records for future trade-in. I truly believe that how you treat your vehicle is more important that who makes it (except in the case of korean auto-makers).

THAT being said, I would NEVER touch a tundra/sequia/4runner. I have had friends that have had me do maint and repairs cuase the cost just in parts much less labor can be outrageous and in some older models (and in the case of tundras the newer ones) the failures are completely catastrophic(car won't run).

---------------
On topic: I have seen every model of from almost every manufacturer have electrical/computer related problems. It comes with a more and more electronic driven engineering as opposed to physical driven engineering. Guy I work with just traded in a Lexus that had a bug that cost him 1400.00 to fix and still didnt remedy the problems. My 1990 escort blew its computer on the road one day, $300.00. Guy I went to highschool with replaced ALL the wiring and eletrical components in his 89 firebird and STILL couldn't get it to run. As stovt001 said, electrical lemons are out there. Trade the sucker in before it costs you too much.

Say it over and over again. In this day and age it is true. Now, the usual argument against that is to look at the statistics (generally people refer to surveys by Consumer Reports or JD Power). If you really look at the statistics and combine them with a little more information, they tell the whole story:
- Who buys Toyotas? People who buy into the reputation for longevity. What do those people do? Maintain their car perfectly so it will last long, and drive gently.
- Buick often makes the top of the list. Is the stuff in a Buick any different from the stuff in a Chevy or Pontiac? Mostly, no. Who drives a Buick? People who aren't in a hurry, take good care of their belongings, and drive gently.
- Pontiac probably ranks pretty low. Who drives Pontiac? Kids and excitement-seekers, neither of which are groups known for driving gently or good maintenance.

Well went in to day to find out whats going on since by 11:30 they didnt call, Well they needed to order a part for the car, a Ign switch lol.

Then of course we started driving my buick around & it wouldnt start when I went to go get my daughter, I had to jump start it lol NOT happy at all.

Not trying to imply that you don't, but with a lot of cars driven occasionally you have to keep your battery charged. With the new electronics, clock, computer, there is a lot of draw on the battery even with the vehicle parked. I have a 00 S-10 truck that I only drive in the winter and when I have to pick something up and frequently the battery is dead. I have a jump box or I would have a battery tender on it. As a matter of fact, I think I am going to get a tender anyway.
