I'm not buying it! Chevrolet didn't bring out a "special model" until the 5th Gen was 2 years old (2012 ZL1). I don't see them bringing out anything "special" for the first year of the 6th Gen either. You need to keep some surprises in the bag for later years.

I think the lack of advertising the 1LE package hurt sales. Its not an expensive package for what you get and how it changes the look and feel of the vehicle.

By releasing it early on a big stage, there's no doubt they'll sell way more 1LE's than previous years.

I like being part of a smaller group of 1LE owners, but that's clearly not what Chevy is going for with the new Camaro. They made the whole vehicle more visually and technologically appealing to the masses.

The 6th gen will be EVERYWHERE soon enough and the 1LE will probably be as common as Mopar's SRT line.

If, and thats a big if, chevy cranks out a 1le, I dont believe it will be big production numbers as usual. And I dont believe the performance gains will be as marked as the 5gen between the common ss and the z28.

The 6gen design has tightened up, and I worry that 1le will become just a badge with some tweaks, as opposed to a 3500$ value bundle that destroyed the competition.

I agree and even if it is higher performance after only one year and without the ZL1 to borrow parts from I just don't think you'll see a difference between them we saw with the 5th gen. I think if they release one in 17 they will update it when the ZL1 comes and it will be much better. Just my .02

Autoblog is confirming this rumor as well. I guess we will know for sure in a day or two.

I would bet my bottom dollar that every part GM needs to build ZL1's is designed and manufactured at this point, so whatever they need for the 1LE is available to them. I also believe that there is a ton of room for improvement from a standard SS (though we still don't have real numbers). GM did not spend all that time in Germany testing at The Ring because they liked the sauerkraut!
