My Challenger SRT8 392 was a manual and I got tired of it. Have an automatic Camaro now and don't miss shifting at all. I have paddle shifters if I want to remember how much I hate shifting............LOL

Auto. I think most older guys here went with auto. I passed my Shelby down to my daughter. Manual is fun but gets old. Auto wasn't an option with the Shelby but after driving a POS Volkswagen through high school/ college I swore once I was able to afford a car with auto that would be the end of manual for me. I have my bikes for when I feel like shifting through gears.

Auto, still a man, just an older guy who doesn't need to shift it himself anymore.

I bought my Camaro as a daily driver which I share (sometimes) with the wife. Also I've driven manuals for years and honestly I just prefer auto. So Auto it was for the Camaro.
One big help in making the choice was the shifters on the wheel which really helps when you want to get the power early. It took years for mustang to even have an option for that and its stuck on the shift stick, lol. I do wish though instead of a regular automatic transmission it would be a DSG like a BMW M3 or similar. That's really a manual transmission with an automatic clutch. Most of these are even better than regular manual since they can do so much in a fraction of the time. Ahh well, I still have a ton of fun and I'm only at 350 miles, can't wait for the 1500 mile break-in when I can let it rip. |

Manual, wanted the manual SS, but all they had was autos, went with the Manual 6 instead.

reading this thread has made me realize how many different cars this Camaro can be. It spreads from roughly $24 K to $65 K in price range and from a docile commuter car to an all out race car. For that reason this thread is useless. My Camaro would be stupid with an automatic were as the commuter version really has no need for a manual. The Camaro can be bought and configured in so many ways that it really is personel preference. So to each there own and enjoy your Camaro I know I do.

Beg to differ a bit on this point, as separating out the fun from the utility can make the commute feel worse than it already is. Knowing that your commuter car works a little differently than at least 98% of those around you, while not quite "priceless" like the credit card commercial line goes, does provide a measure of satisfaction.
Yes, I've commuted in the Boston area. Braintree T station worked for me, as driving all the way into town and then dealing with parking it is nutty no matter what you're driving. Quote:
