X-pipe added to L99
I had an x-pipe installed today and had a chance to drive around a while (both cith and highway). I'm not hearing any 'drone' or other unusual sounds related to removing the resonator. The car actually sounds quite a bit better, especially when accelerating. I also noticed that the rattling of the heatshield when I rev the engine doesnt seem to happen anymore (though I dont know why removing the resonator would do that).
I can hear/feel the AFM activating but it sounds the same now as it did before when the only mod I had done to exhaust was the high flow cats.

I recently had a corsa cat-back put on. Sounds so good until the AFM kicks in.

Drone isn't taken care of in the X pipe or the resonators. It's canceled out in the J tube, inside the OEM muffler.

An X-pipe is a nice upgrade. Did you keep the stock mufflers?

Yeah, still stock mufflers. The cats and x-pipe are the only thing I have changed on exhaust so far.

Anyway of getting a video posted? I've been contemplating headers all the way back but considering HF cats and x pipe to start then come back with headers at a later date.

Ouch, that sounds like you have bad lifters BAD. That is what that ticking is that did not go away within 10-15 seconds.

It sounds just like a couple other SS w/ L99 I test drove, and the dealership(s) I asked also said its normal. ALso, anything you're hearing there is just exhaust and echoing in the garage. THe lifter 'tick' is very faint in actuality and cant be heard on that recording.

What's the purpose of the x pipe? Just sound?

It is used to do what is called cylinder scavenging. When the exhuast flows across each other in the pipe they help pull the exhaust faster out of the engine and increases low end torque and hp.

I thought that the factory exhaust made the most hp and no one was finding more power out of aftermarket exhaust?

Factory Mufflers are fine, but if you upgrade parts like the Cats you get more power. I dont know for sure if x-pipe adds power but it could potentially do so. Also , it does sound better for sure.
