Lowering the 1LE
Ok, I know coils overs are the best way to go but I wanted to see what others are using. I've heard good things about the Eibach's springs but nothing about the coil overs.
I've also heard the ride is much better if you go the coil over route but is it worth the almost $1,000.00? Thanks |

Same as with the SS, and there are numerous topics on this subject in the suspension board: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=93
It comes down to how the car will be used, personal preference, and budget. Either work equally well for a street car. |

Part of buying the 1LE is for that factory tuned suspension. It's more then just the monotube shock valving & dampening in the FE6 shocks, the 1LE spring rates are different too.
Eibach's are great for style and stance, but im pretty certain they have softer spring rates then the stock 1LE springs have, which means sure, you're car will look better, but it might not handle as good. Unless someone has proven otherwise on a 1LE? But I know it holds true on the 2010-2013 NON 1LE. The majority of the handling improvements from a Eibach equipped SS is from the Eibach swaybars to help limit and control the body roll.

Thank for the feed back. I think I will work on some other mods first.

1LE springs are the same as the SS springs. Stock SS/1LE springs are:
front: 165 lbs/in rear: 370 lbs/in Part number comparison in this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=244570 Eibach spring rates are: front: progressive 143-222 lbs/in rear: progressive 291-485 lbs/in Because of the progressive design, they will deceptively “feel” softer but near the of travel, end at a higher spring rate than stock. Eibachs feels stock, if not slightly firmer while cruising but definitely feel heavier in corners. But because of the progressive design, may feel a little vague/less precise compared to straight rate springs (linear springs). Even still, Eibach would be heavier than stock and don't see why they would not work with the 1LE suspension. 1LE would actually be slightly under sprung since 1LE have better valved monotube shocks compared to 2012+ SS yet still use the same springs. Bondurant must like the style and stance of the Eibachs because they use them in their class Camaro SS’s. People I have spoken to who have used the Camaro’s while at Bondurant had no issues with the way they feel on the track. http://www.bondurant.com/cars/camaro-ss Lowering the center of gravity would benefit the 1LE, keeping weight lower to the ground, even with only a 1” drop in height like the Eibach springs. |

You own one of the best handlling cars around. Don't screw it up by lowering it. Do you want to look fast, or actually be fast. Leave the car alone!

I did pedders super cars on mine and it made a huge difference in the way it handles and the ride in my opinion is better.

Even Though I complained about my Eibach R1 endlink tab, the lower stance with stiffer/quicker and waaaaayyyyyy better than even the 1LE shocks valving actually makes my car accelerate quicker by taking away the unwanted power robbing dip that stock suspension makes during take off. Less weight shifting front to rear and so on. I can tell you of 5 different coilover kits that may feel equally stiff but the valving is what makes the difference. I sold the 1LE suspension because honestly the valving still felt like crap and was softer than even the H&R coilover kit.

I stand corrected. My statement was based on the lowered cars I had been in, which were not good.

Unless you know what you're doing and can take Chevy's track package and improve it, don't F with it.
I had my first track day on Friday (ever, let alone the 1LE), and I was taking out / passing Millers Cup Spec Mustangs with slicks and a Saleen 302 mustang that was trailered to the track on an all stock 1LE. Drive the car. Know what it can do. Then modify it if you have to.

I've had Eibach springs on my '12 SS for over a year now! Wow what a difference. I will definitely buy these again for my 1LE.
