I personally wouldn't go with such a SQ subwoofer, I am a hammer head the JL w3v3 is the perfect match for me, its a SQ but still can hammer

Yes your subs are like w7's, they are SQ. That is not for me. I am not trying to be rude at all so don't take it this way. But my w3's will hit harder than the w7's, and for the amount of money of those things, its not even worth it. The only things thoose things can do different is hit the LOWEST note out there.

Hm... i don't really like heavy bass. Just want something that's balance with stock speakers. The speakers don't put out enough bass on some songs.

I'm running a single JL 10W6s4 and it is about all I need with 300 clean watts. I also replaced the front door speakers with some Alpine typeR components.

also i know that is not going to be your finishing work. but the subs should not be facing up. get better sound if they face the trunk door

Facing the back might not affect the sound at all. Will it make it louder? Possibly. But to say fro certain what will happen when facing subs a certain direction is silly. It is typically louder, but not necessarily going to sound better. Also, as this is a daily driver/show setup, I'm sure he's done, and I'm sure, I'll bet money on it, it sounds just fine as is.

As to break in, while subs and speakers need it to loosen up, one doesn't have to tweak the amp to do it. If he, or his wife, listens to it normally, daily, it'll still break in. And break in doesn't necessarily affect sound quality as much as output.

Any sub will hit any note in the proper enclosure. Name brand does not affect what range of music the sub can or can not reproduce. Four things primarily affect how low a sub can play, enclosure, xmax, cone size and weight of the cone. Heavier, longer throw, bigger cone and larger enclosurer all will help a sub reach down low. A Funky Pup 15 in the right enclosure will reach down as low as a JL 13w7. Will it handle as much power? Nope. Sound as good? Probably not. Get as loud? Nope, due to power handling. But it will reproduce the same notes.

Trust me on this, those JBL GTi subs are considered among the very best in SQ, that means reaching low, responding fast and getting fairly loud doing it. w7s will get louder then your w3s too, if given enough power. The best JL sub out, IMHO, is the w6. But that is my opinion only, lol, ymmv.
