my experience with the HP Plus is very different than yours.
The HP Plus are a ton more grippy vs the Raybestos pads. I can't speak of the EBC pads, With street pads a couple laps will be all they can handle at most before you start noticing issues with them. There is no pad that is good for the street, and good for the track. Track pads will be noisy and dusty. Street pads will be quiet but not stop as well, especially under a lot of heat. |

How are the HPS pads compared to the stock pads in regards to stopping power and dust. The stock pads dust a lot, so a person would assume they would stop relatively well in comparison to aftermarket pads. I won't buy the Hawk ceramics because people say they don't stop as well as the stock pads. That unacceptable to me, and that's loosing performance just to keep brake dust from accumulating as fast. However, if the HPS pads can stop better AND dust the same or dust less than the OEM's, then I'm freaking sold.

HPS are a bit better than the stock pads,
not dramatically better under most conditions, but as you heat the brakes up with multiple hard stops the HPS pads will show more of an improvement. Dust wise, they will likely not be better. They will also likely make noise every now and then. |

HP+ have been good to me as a dual use pad as long as there's some time between sessions and you're not on the larger courses with multi-120+mph stops. Bleeding before every race and zero issues although they squeal like a banshee after they cool off unless you go back and add more anti-squeal. Lots of dust but who cares. Upgrading to 6-piston fronts and better pads for the larger tracks next summer though.
I would never run a ceramic at the track. Thats asking to kiss the wall when they crap out on you, and they definitely will. |

Excellent, thank you. I appreciate the input. I could live with the current dust level of the stock pads, so if HPS is similar, I'll be okay with it. Plus, the braking will be a tad better and that'll be worth it. I have a feeling if I went with the HP+, the dust and noise levels will drive me nuts for street driving, so I'll stay away from those.

I bought the EBC (Yellow) pads because of the heat characteristics...advertised as a agressive street/light track duty pad.
And I like em....good cold bite (like OEM) but increasing torque without addititional pedal pressure as they get warm. Still no noise...but sometimes that comes with more time....as the grease burns off. In comparison to OEM I've tried two and I rate them as follows: Hawk HPS Dust: Much Less Cold Bite: Worse Warm Bite: Worse Fade: None Pedal Pressure: Much More Stopping Distance: Much More (2X I measured) Noise: None EBC Yellow Dust: Similar Cold Bite: Similar Warm Bite: Much Better Fade: None Pedal Pressure: Much less when warm Stopping Distance: Much Less, can hold speed much longer before braking... Noise: None....yet (but only 2 days in) I really like these pads, I was going to try the HP+s but I may defer that cuz I don't like to fix things that aren't broken. I think I would rather try their blue compound first.....which are billed as a dual use street/track pad for heavy cars....seems like yellow and blue have some overlap. |
