Another new guy...with questions.
Hey all, bought a '12 1SS/RS last week, and I've been enjoying catching up on all things 5th Gen on these forums and wanted to say hello. Traded in my C4 Vette on a black beauty 6 speed with the factory Hurst shifter and 3 more years of warranty. Cannot believe how flippin fast these cars are, and mine is mostly stock save for a CAI of unknown brand and no heat shield and a skip shift eliminator. Gotta figure out what to do with the CAI situation, pretty sure not having a heat shield makes it a HAI.
One other question I have is, are the console guages part of the RS package or are they a separate option? I have them and thought they were just a 2SS deal, so just curious. Looking forward to learning more and enjoying the ride. Here is a pic of the intake, any guesses on what this is? Can I buy a heatshield separately? Googled it with no luck... |

I would think to see actual gains from that CAI you would need something protecting it from the heat of the engine. Also you can get the 4 gauge cluster from here http://www.phastekperformance.com/GM...s-92247189.htm

Thanks, I have the 4 guage cluster, just wondering if its part of the RS package or a stand-alone option?

Are you sure its a 1SS? I thought the emblem was white? Yours is red which I thought indicates a 2SS and would explain the instrument cluster. Just learning myself. Brought home 2010 VR SS today.
(The yellow LT RS on my avatar was my first Camaro. Need to update now )

Nice ride!
The red SS is when you get the RS option. White is non-RS. Just look at the headlights. 2SS gets you leather and the gauge pack, etc. Not sure about the intake question.

Red letters- RS package- painted roof ditch, staggered wheels and halo headlights.
White letters- Non-RS package- black roof ditch, wheels the same width all the around, and halogen headlights. 1SS-cloth seats, NO HUD, NO 4 gauge pack, and NO center speaker. 2SS- leather seats, HUD, 4 gauge pack, and center speaker. OP, if you have 4 pack gauge cluster with the 1SS one of two things happened. One it was ordered with them or the prior owner installed them.

Console gauges come with the 2LT and 2SS. Nothing to do with the R'S package.

I know the first thing I'd do with that car, lose the ugly dealer logo on your trunk. Tell him you'll keep it on there if he pays you a monthly fee for advertising. If not, scrap it. It's hideous. Great looking Camaro though. You'll love the car. I've had mine 3 years now and it still feels new when I get in it and when I drive it.
