Difficulty level of ZL1 bumper install
Possible ordering the zl1 number this week and was thinking about saving money and installing myself. How difficult will it be for a schmuck like me to complete this install?? Anyone have any experience with it.. Time.. Effort.. Troubles..

I had my front bumper on and off in about an hour when I had to replace a fender.
It's not hard. 1) Open Hood 2) Jack the front end up. 3) remove the wheel liner from both front wheels 4) Undo bolts in engine bay, wheel wells and screws underneath. 5) remove wiring harness For a Zl1 front end you'll need a new wiring harness (check with gen5DIY) and absorber (factory part). After that just put it all back together. Note: You can also buy ZL1 wheel liners and other associated parts. There is a DIY on here describing the process. Check that section.

Long story short, if you ever successfully completed the little kids "shape-sorting" toy you can easily do the ZL1 front bumper change. Its all plug and play, besides the wire harness for the fog lights.
and if you never successfully finished it, there is no reason to worry about the ZL1 bumper either, because you have much bigger problems than changing the front bumper on you car Kidding aside, good luck with the change, it will look great this might give you some visuals also: http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/pai...s/viewall.html Last edited by sswiss3000; 02-16-2015 at 08:26 PM. |

The longest part will be removing the wheel liners and tires the rest is a piece of cake. I have had mine off so many times I can do it with my eyes closed.

As others have said, it's relatively easy. Hardest part for me was reaching the bolts that held the bumper in.

Since it is such an easy job, it is well worth it. Plus mods are much more fun if you get to do them your self |

literally takes me 15 mins at most. Super easy like others have said its just the wheel liners that is the most time consuming.
