On a 5 year old -nearly 6 year old model year car they're gonna hit you where it hurts.
They'll try to turn it for low 20s as a low mile "puff". High Trade in? Maybe 15-16k on a good day with a tailwind. |

I was offered 17k for my 2010 2SS non RS by carmax, I think even a good price would be 19k. One reason they offered me a lower value was because of some modifications.
These things aren't worth that much when they get older, plus Chevy has been screwing the resale value by offering such big discounts on new ones.

First dealer offered me 16K for my 12 2LT Convertible,M-6, said it was in 'fair' condition. About 50% left on tires and one ding on rear wheel well, otherwise excellent.
Left with a bad taste, second dealer offered 18K with no BS. That's who I'm getting my new Green Flash ragtop from. Good luck man!!!!

Sounds like great resale value to me. your car is 5 years old and you should have paid 22-23 when new. Most cars lose 50% or more of their value after 4 years, sounds like you still have 61% of the new value after 5.

Well , we all take a bath or lose on the trade in car but we don't care because it's about getting what you want. But if you're not happy about it , go see how much other dealers will give you.

Always have a printout of the Kelly blue book and do not be afraid to haggle, tell then you are going to walk if you do not get it, I traded a little over year old 2ss/rs vert 2011 I bought for 40 for 33 the high blue book with 5k on the odometer, and they tried to low ball me, I showed them what I wanted and they agreed...just had to get the managers approval.... it was in the winter ,( hard to sell a vert),and later they sold my car for less than 33 I know I watched it online... but they made plenty on the new car and hey its about getting what it is worth.... And I bought additional warranty I immediately ditch a month or so later, and had them install a couple things....good for me, good for them. And certain times are better to buy as are certain dealerships...I went fifty miles.

I don't because by the time I am done with a car, it isn't worth anything ... I have traded in a grand total of 2 cars out of about 11 or 12 ... I guess maybe I could throw in my kids 2 cars that got traded in for 2 more, but I got way more than either one of them was worth

If you have patience and can afford to sell yourself, not sell as a trade in, you might make a better return selling the auto yourself.
Dealers are going to low-ball you if you sell as a trade-in. Last year I sold my low mileage pristine 1998 Riviera. Dealer buy about $4,200, top in retail about $6,200. I advertised with pictures, sold in two weeks for my asking price of $6,800. Back in 2010, I traded a pristine 1996 Sebring LXI coupe for my 2011 Camaro. Just wanted the Camaro so took the dealer's offer of $1,700 on the Sebring trade-in. Later learned my Sebring sold on auction for $5,200 because it was in such excellent condition. |
