Think about resell value too. If you were a customer a few years from now, would you go for a top of the line V6 with HUD and and slightly chafed leather or a cloth interior V8?
Not trying to sway you one way or the other, just giving the flat out facts. The 2LT price will be about equal to the 1SS price, I'm thinking $23k for a 2010 two years from now. Remember that the V8 becomes a V4 when highway driving too, and that each gas fill is about $10 more. Depending on how you drive, gas mileage may not differ that much; surprisingly I'm doing a lousy 20.5 mpg since becoming part of the morning and afternoon rushes (use to do 23). I hope to get a used SS next January and trade my 2LT (regrets...) My insurance company said my premium would only be $10 more a month too since I'm 29. In the end, if you can wing the additional costs, get the SS. |

If you happen to be trading your car, some states (mine: Tennessee) will charge you taxes only on the difference between your trade-in and the used or new car. That helps some. If you think you can get the car for $2600, that would mean someone else paid the depreciation and there's not that much different except for the BU camera and Heads up display. I would probably go used.

MONTY.......IMO.....go with the 2011.......oh and btw......Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

So far I can't see much of a downside to the 2011. I am coming from a 4 cylinder accord so I don't think I will miss the 11hp of the 2012

I don't think anybody really notices the extra HP either. It's torque that people feel and that number hasn't changed from 2011 to 2012 (I think).

First of all, by all means, go test drive the Mustang. That way you can't say you never gave it a try later on. Just make sure you compare apples to apples before making your decision. In other words, don't test drive a V8 in one model, and a V6 in the other. Be fair. Even though both the Mustang and the Camaro have the basic 36/36,000 warranties, their Powertrain warranties are different. The Mustang is 60/60,000 and the Camaro is 60/100,000.
I have a 2011 SS Camaro and I love it. I haven't seen a 2012 yet to compare interiors, so I can't comment on any differences there. I kinda wish now I would have waited and gotten a 2012, reason being it's the 45th Anniversary year and, properly equiped, that fact alone may help in holding the resale value in years to come. If you don't plan on keeping the Camaro long, then by all means go with the best deal on a 2011. |

My wife just bought a brand new 2011 Tahoe vs a 2012 and between the incentives and still got a good interest rate she saved almost $5k on the car. It was the dealers last 2011 Tahoe on the lot so they did want to deal to get rid of it
