From the beginning of the parade, get the car moving from a stop using second gear (not first)... Then drive as slowly as second gear will allow without lugging uncomfortably (don't let it start bucking). Keep enough distance in front of you that you can absorb most slowdowns without downshifting to first or clutching in/braking to minimize wear and tear on your left leg.

You'll be fine... By the way... The V8 has more than enough torque in second to launch easily from that gear. Not sure how easy it would go in the V6.
You took the words right outta my mouth.

It is settled, no parades for me.
If you enjoy your car, and want to help with the parade, get involved. The car will be fine. People drive them in stop and go traffic all the time, which is even worse than a parade. Guys, they are just cars, built to be enjoyed. Put a blanked down in the back seat for the young ladies shoes, and have some fun! That's why you bought a convertible in the first place right.....to have some fun?

I drove in the homecoming parade last year (automatic) and lets just say I wont do that again. I turned around to talk to one of the cheerleaders in the back and my foot slipped of the brake and onto the gas...I almost ran over a little girl on a bike in front of me. Not to mention almost throwing the 3 cheerleaders in the back out. (Picture in my sig)

Wouldn't be the first time 3 cheerleaders got caught with their legs in the air.
