What's the difference between these two kits?
Hey guys,
Well, my wife got a bit confused and "only" got me a PC7424XP for my birthday, so now it's up to me to get pads and polishes. I am 99% going to get Adam's polishes, but I am leaning heavily towards getting 5.5" pads and a 5" backing plate, based on all your advice. What's the difference between the two and what would you all say is better for a PC? Thanks! Nick

The surface of the pad. The CCS is dimpled for heat dispersion. The flat is flat for maximum contact area. You want the flat for most DA applications as you don't need the heat reduction and you'd rather have more contact area.

Thanks for the explanation!
Was is you that was recommending the FG400 as a multi-purpose paint correcter and polish? The website I linked above carries it. What pads would you recommend I get to use with that? Orange and white, just as if I went with Adam's products? Cheers!

Yes FG400 can be used as a one and done product. You just have to learn to finish with it, to get the best finish possible.
If you're sticking with foam pads, orange is what most use for the grunt work. White is a less abrasive so it should be used with your second step products, if you use them. Black, blue, red, and gold are marketed as having no cutting ability so they should be used for spreading waxes, sealants, and glazes. You'll need a couple of oranges, and a couple of the waxing pads, if you plan to use them. Personally, I do my sealants and waxes by hand. For glazes I use a machine/black pad. If you want the best cutting available, get the microfiber pads. I see that eShine has the optimum MF pads which should be fine. If you go that route, you'll need a couple of them, along with a pad brush. MF pads

Could I get away with just using FG400 on microfibre and orange pads and then finish the job with applying a sealant/wax by hand, or will I need something in between?

Shouldn't need all 3 polishes you're mentioning... depending on the condition the paint is in to start with you may be able to correct with 1 and refine with another.
In some cases, if you work it right, 1 step will get most people to a very happy place.

Overall my paint is in very good condition. The car is only 2+ months old, but there's more scratches and swirls in the paint than I would like for a 2 month old car.
Minimal correction is required, but it's still required. I also want to try my hand at correcting the paint on my wife's black Kia Optima. Swirl city.

All orange? 2 orange and 1 white?
