Front End is all in and back together. Not happy with the result though, coils are stock height and I don't like them at all.

It's very visable now that the rear springs are sagged as need attention! Gotta love these project cars!!

At least rear springs are easier to do, John!

Not sure about that, may need to drop the fuel tank to get good access. If I do that, then might as well clean the tank inside and out, probably easier and cheaper to replace it now that I think about it!

I'm not sure about the front though, can't say I've ever cut a coil to lower, but might try it, just to see what happens. Nothing to loose but time into it!

Thanks Tom! My problem is I don't have a lot of patience for Rochesters! Good carbs, I just have a hard time tuning them.

My father taught me this. Bottom the screws...gently...then turn them out 1 1/2 turns. That gives you a great starting point. And SAIT taught patience. Turn them little by little evenly. Each time you turn them in or out even 1/4 turn, rev the engine up a bit and wait for it to settle. Patience is the key as always John. Of course it IS better if you have a four gas analyzer, but the ear gets them pretty darn close! LOL

Qjets, holley, AFB's all easy to tune. Make sure all vacum lines/ports are plugged or used.
1- make sure your timing is set correctly
2-set the base idle speed 750ish in neutral
3- #1 idle screw, turn it out or in until max rpm is gained, the turn back in till rpm drops 10-20rpm
4- reset idle speed 750 rpm
5- #2 idle screw same as #1
6- reset idle speed again to 750
7-done

The rpm speed at idle is for a stock to slightly cammed motor.
In gear it should beat about 600rpm.

Hope this helps bud if not come on out to Exshaw

Thanks! Once I put the rebuild kit in (early December) I set the base and have left it at that (had to do it by ear as the tach isn't working yet)....I got sidetracked on the front suspension and rebuild. Then I installed the headers and exhaust, as I wanted to set the carb once I had finished the exhaust and with the weather getting warm enough and streeets are clear enough I can maybe get a chance to play with the car a bit too.

It's all an exercise in patience!

We will have to get together, John. I'm busy right now working my butt off as my wife's job did some "restructuring". Hope she finds work quick!

But I will make it out there to see what you're doing and hopefully lend a hand.
