New 2010 SS Questions

Hey guys i just bought my second Camaro. I had a 2012 1LS and traded it for a 2005 Jeep LJ but yesterday traded the Jeep in for a 2010 2SS IOM Manual Camaro with only 23k miles . Are there any common issues i should look for or be aware of. Ive already noticed the exhaust baffle issue but it came with certified used 12 month bumper to bumper warranty so that will be fixed. Any thing else though?

Be careful using launch control on it. The 2010s have been known to break axles when using it.

Other than that, not much seems to go wrong with these cars. The LS3 is a very solid engine.

No issues whatsoever with my 2010 (yet, knock on wood) - 68K Miles. GM did a great job with these cars...

Exhaust baffle issue? Just bought mine Jan31 and only put 600 miles on it since.

If you free up the exhaust ahead of the stock mufflers... like with headers or high flow cats... the baffle that separates the muffler into two chambers can come loose and rattle. I think it is mostly an LS3 issue.

I think you may be referring to the transmission output shaft. That should have been corrected, there was apparently some transmission that went out with a extra groove machined into them that shouldn't have been.

I haven't heard any problems in quite some time though.

Oh ok. Thanks for that info. I heard what sounded like a very slight rattle this morning. Wasn't anything dramatic or even consistent. Only heard it on slight acceleration at a certain rpm. My first thought was maybe something in my glove box, something loose in my passenger door, or a heat shield vibration or something.

My first thought was a heat shield to but its coming from the muffler and all the exhaust on this car is stock. I read there is factory TSB on it.

My exhaust manifold broke and they were replaced with LTs.

Paint chipping under rear spoiler

Clicking noise coming from rear wheels when moving from a dead stop (thrust washers need to be added/replaced)

Most of the stuff on the interwebz indicates the early output shafts weren't properly heat treated, but there never was a recall.

You also hear racers complaining about breaking axles with an M6 even in stock form at the track. If your going to drag race, you should correct the wheel hop issues these cars have. That or lift the throttle when it occurs, but who really wants to do that?
