A centri builds boost with RPM. Of all the superchargers, they will feel the most like an NA engine as their dyno charts are linear like an NA.

You can set up a centri with a wastegate so you can pulley down for more boost lower in the RPM range and then bleed off the excess boost. Or you can run a restrictor plate. If unrestricted by a wastegate or plate, they will build boost to redline.

In simple terms, the higher you spin one, the more boost they make. In reality, you can overspin them outside their efficiency range which will heat the air up and you can reach a point of diminishing returns. I overspun a Ysi (by 5-6K) and made 22# and 1026rwhp. Granted, the boost was achieved at or near redline and not throuhout the RPM band.

Seems like D1SC is the way to go. A lot of people running it and love it. Plus its not like I need maximum efficiency out of it. The only reason I am going D1SC is because he said its a 250 dollar upgrade over the P1. He also said I could go F1 for another 250.

I havent really looked at ECS because it would be in the same price bracket as the D1SC. Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the D1SC a much more capable blower than a 1500? Isnt the D1SC 2200 territory? Just seems like I get more with the D1SC package if I ever go bigger.

Thanks for all your opinions guys.

The d1 is slightly bigger, not 2200 big, but a bit bigger than the d1. Either blower is more than enough to max out the stock motor so you won't feel the limits. If you do a built motor you will probably do a ysi or f1 anyways.

That being said, take a good look at turbos.

Also when looking at blower kits the head unit is just one piece. Look at the brackets, belt setup, intercooler, intake, etc. I do agree with Detoxx that procharger makes some of the best head units, but some other features on their kits are lacking. Their brackets/tensioners usually are not near as nice as the ECS stuff.

The D1SC flows 1400 cfm which is about 96 lbs/min airflow depending on elevation and other queep.

This equates to about 925 FWHP and is fairly conservative.

I dont know what the ECS 1500 flows?

I am at about 908 FWhp and still have one pulley smaller to go which would put me right at or just above the 925hp PC advertises.

Yea, the rule of thumb is you can figure on about 9.5 to 10.5 hp per lb/min of airflow depending on a bunch of variables. I notice the PC 925 hp rating is pretty conservative and the ECS is about middle of the road.

CFM to Lbs/min airflow conversion varies but you can assume air weighs about .069 to .07 lbs/cubic ft. So divide airflow in lbs/min by weight of air and viola, you have approx hp to the motor. Reference any appendix of any thermodynamics text book for the exact conversion....if you're a dork!

Well, I went and discussed options with the shop yesterday. Looking like I am probably going to go Whipple. He is interested in doing one because he never has, and he is really really hooking me up on it. It would be dumb to turn this deal down.

Give us a call here at Lethal Racing. We are only a few hrs from you and have tons of houston customers. We can easily make 700RWHP with your car. For basically the same price of a whipple installed we can do a centri, meth and dual fuel pump fuel system.

We have found that the 1500 doesn't like to be pushed past 16psi or around 800rwhp. Can they make that hp? Yes. Safe to run it at that rpm/hp continuously, no imho. At that point the YSI is what we turn to.We install tons of these kits and I run the 1500 on my own forged LS3. im at 760rwhp through a th400 and thats where ill stop with the 1500.

I appreciate the offer, but the shop I go to currently has been very loyal and helpful to me, not to mention they are practically doing free labor/tune on the install. I am basically buying the kit and assorted other small things to add in while its down.

Update:

Went ahead and just decided to go with a 2.3 Maggy with a cog set up. Its ordered, just waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully sometime soon.

Any guesses on power? Going to be keeping it super safe.
