I think of this a little differently, forgive me for twisting your words. The base Corvette is a $4000 premium to a loaded Camaro.

Base vette is no LS camaro with steel wheels and a V6. It's every bit the performer any other vette barring the Z06 and ZR1 is. I agree, bang for bucks, the 1LT Vette is better than a 2SS.

Also, people are driving V6 mustangs off Ford lots for under 19,000. That's 4 grand, GM. You'd better hope you have some excellent sales personnel to explain to joe schmoe why he needs to pay almost 1/5 more for his stripper pony car.

Initially the camaro will sell itself, because it is new. Then after that "newness" wears off, they will be discounting like the old style mustang is now.
