I have seen a variety of posts stating something similar, which is why I think it would make a good sticky. Maybe I can write something up in the next day or so, if time allows.

thanks for the post. Since I am still learning about my car it is good to know that no new aftermarket headers are in my car's future.

But if you bought a set of old-style heads..................

Never mind.

I know they wouldn't be called headers but couldn't you make a pipe that goes from the heads to the cats?

Does 1 have to do anything special to it to achieve this or does it come set up like this right off the showroom floor?
Sorry for the noob question, but this is the first I've heard of this...
Thanks in advance

What's a header?

I too realized what a turd the Ls is shortly after I bought it too. It's nice to make 30 mpg, but after I see that I think I'm good and accelerate with more "ump" and it's back down to 18.

That's the way it comes from the factory.

I think it was an attempt at humor.

New to the Camaro scene. I just bought a 2012 inferno orange 1LS. This is sad news indeed. I did not know this about my car. I've been researching this for three days now, but all I want to do is make my v6 sound deeper with a lower idle speed. I do not want it to sound like a ricer. Since mine is a 2012 and cannot change the headers to help achieve this what are my options? From all of the YouTube videos i've seen with just rear exhaust upgrades makes it sound like a Honda civic ricer popping rice. I absolutely do not want this kind of sound. I want it to be extremely deep like you can hear it slowly gurgle'ing the gas and no popping.

I have seen videos where someone cuts the exhaust to achieve close to the sound I want. I do not want the sound to be roaring loud, just deep. Think motorcycle deep.

Sorry for the questions. But someone could save me a lot of time if you can help point me in the right direction. What is a guy like me to do? Thanks in advance.
