Already problems with my 2SS - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

A week ago today was one of the best days of my life. I got my 2SS Red Jewel Tint beauty. From the 2nd or 3rd day I noticed weird noises coming from what seems to be the transmission. No hot rodding going on just normal driving . Now today it's getting really bad. It sounds like a grinding noise when shifting into
1st, 2nd, and sometimes into 3rd. It seems to get worse the longer I drive it. Plus, the engine shakes when I'm at an idle. I've never had a muscle car before so I don't know if this is normal. I am going to take it into the dealer tomorrow but can anyone tell me if they have had any of these problems? I absolutely HATE to have to take my car in and have people around it and getting in and out, slamming my doors. Basically people just touching it makes me cringe!

Oh, one other thing. My sunroof sliding door is warped or something because it snags somewhere in there when I open and close it. This just sucks!

Grinding noise... bad! I would get that car to the dealer ASAP and get it taking care of. Nice to see the RJT paint though!

The "rough Idle" is common in computer controlled cars. The Computer is learning the fuel curve and hence will be a little rough in the beginning. This should go away here in the near future. If not I would take it in for sure.

As to the other issues, I'd get that car into a dealer ASAP. Let us know what they say.

my advice, as much as you don't want to hear it, would be to take it to the dealer because it definitely shouldn't be doing any of that weird stuff.

if it'll make you feel better, you can put a camera in the car to catch pepole messing with it

that worked for a guy & his subaru!

actually... i doubt you have anything to worry about from the dealer - most are pretty respectable

Hum well the clutch needs to be broken in so. Maybe take the service mgr with you to let him listen to it.

Are you breaking it in ez or going with the other hardcore methods?

No burn outs till after the break in period. Did you do burnouts?

Could be some glaze it will burn off and seat.

Clutch pad is like a giant brake pad and the metal expands and contracts with your operating heat cycles. Probably just needs more break in.

edit add: The shake is a good thing.. people pay for that.. 400 horses ready for you to crack the whip.

I think I would already be lighting up the dealer to get it in and out pretty fast myself. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks guys for the replies. I know I have to get it in to them but this is not off to a good start. Does anyone think I will be able to take it to a dealer other than the one I bought the car from? This dealer isn't the greatest in the world. They suck actually. I don't think they take women very seriously.

Sorry to hear that..LMK if there are any Car Shows in Denver area you will be attending. I'd like to see that color up close. I've yet to see IBM, ABM, IOM, and RJ. Still patiently waiting for my SIM..

You can take the car in to whatever Chevy dealership you want to. Engine shake is probably normal, but you definitely need to get the other 2 issues checked out ASAP.

I'm driving it easy even though it's the hardest thing ever to have to do. Especially since this ridiculous Challanger keeps driving by my house reving his engine. When my car is fixed and broken in I will for sure do a drive by on him.
