Thats not entirely true. I think it may depend on insurance companys. I have Geico insurance and ive called them recently asking if my girlfriend can drive my Camaro on a trip that we went on even though she is not on the policy. Geico said yes since my car has insurance I can let her drive my car and it would be covered. I have asked them several times the past few years regarding this.

Excuse me? Read the OP it explains everything. He was merging into the TURN LANE. Obviously a right hand turn. The guy behind him was too impatient to wait his turn to enter the turn lane and proceeded to drive down the right SHOULDER of the road into the turn lane past the OP. The OP then merged into the turn lane which was occupied by the other driver thus causing damage on the right side of the car. Mind = blown.

The other guy will call his insurance company, the insurance company will call the Op insurance company, and then they will asking questions as to why the OP never informed them of the accident.

I can't tell you how many time I have heard of people getting told "ya don't call your insurance, it's my fault"....then they call the insurance and blame everything on the other guy.

The insurance will find out no matter what.

Here in California, you are required to notify the DMV if you are involved in a accident with damage over $750 bucks.

Your paying insurance and don't want to use it????? Hmmm...
