First drive through the mountains

Well, I've had my car for a week and a half now, and after watching the younger sisters regatta at Clemson I decided it was time to go for a mountain drive. 72 degrees at the start, 60 degrees at the top of the mountain; sunny, not many other cars or bikes on the roads either. Makes for a PERFECT day to go out for a drive and see what the camaro can really do.

Had a great route planned too; HWYs 11, 178, 215, 276...it was incredible. I have to say, overall I love the car. It was tons of fun to drive. You can throw the car around a good amount and it sticks well. I was surprised how much the weight of the car is felt while cornering, but i guess that is expected with as heavy a car it is. The only thing I wished was there is MORE TORQUE!!!! but, I did buy the V6 because it is my daily driver and with a 30 mile commute each way to work the gas mileage is nice. But I still would like more torque.

My only complaint, and a question for y'all is about the brakes. After about an hour of medium intensity driving it felt like the brakes were getting a little soft. After the left front started to make a loud squeal I decided to take it very easy and take a look at the brakes at the next stop. Everything looked OK, and no extra heat so I continued the drive but not as hard. I don't plan on driving like this a lot, maybe once every 5 or 6 weeks but is this something anyone else has experienced? do the brakes get adequate cooling?

As I said before, I LOVE my car . Very happy with choosing it over a mustang. Pics from a few stops on the drive below.

There is a structural anticline in the metasediments behind your car.

Oh yeah, your car looks great too! Love the color.

The v6 breaks do loose their stopping power after a bunch of hard stops or driving like this, daily driver type car after all. If you do swaybars and springs the car will feel 300-400 lbs lighter and be planted and corner flat.

Those are upgrades I am definitely going to have to look into. Any suggestions on brake upgrades, extra brake cooling?

I'd say get some stainless steel brake lines and Hawk or EBC brake pads along with the suspension, and you'd have an amazing car on the mountain. Jealous of the pictures though, all I get to do is drive on I-75 thats filled with potholes

Congrats on the new ride. I'm glad you're enjoying your new Camaro. I have the LS model, and have had it for eight months now. I can tell you this, that feeling of excitement every time you walk towards it with key in hand hasn't gone away yet. Have fun and be safe!

Good Luck, but I told myself I would only drive like that with the camaro group but find myself driving like that every chance I get.
