New to CA from Hawaii--need advice.

So I just moved to CA and brought my 2013 SS. I have been trying to figure out what to do with my car's exhaust and CAI. I currently have New Era OTR intake and LT's with high flow cats. I've noticed that LT's are illegal but still see a lot of you posting about having them installed and what not. I'm curious as to what you do about the smog check.

I don't want to go back to stock to do the smog check so can someone give some advice.

Unfortunately, I think you need to revert back to stock (that's what I did whenever I smogged my modified Subaru). BTW, I'm originally from East Honolulu and have been in CA since '99. Matson effed up the bed of my pristine Tacoma during shipping when I made the move.

You will not pass smog in CA with the LTs.

I'm from Hawaii too (kaimuki), you have 2 choices, at the very least install a stock air filter housing etc and hope the guy/gal at the smog check shop just pencil whips the test and you pass emissions, or go back to stock and install your aftermarket parts after. I shipped my Corvette over and I had to return everything to stock to pass the test. I believe the smog check is needed every other year. BTW, welcome to California.

Same thing you'll need a smog check to register the car and get a California title. There's a visual test and an emission test.

I went ahead and got some stock parts from someone on this site so I will be doing that. Guess I will just do the suspension and what not until I leave California.

All you need to worry about is the emissions. They do a visual check mostly on the CAI, some actually overlook the intake and they check for high emissions. You should give it a shot.

I'm thinking I will just go try and see what happens. I have high flow cats, and I'm concerned about the intake. It's pretty obvious that it's not stock. I've tuned the car so I don't throw any codes and the emissions will be fine. It's just that stupid CARB number that I'm missing for my intake and LT's. California emission laws are so dumb.

There are so many cars that are putting out a lot worse exhaust than a car with headers....haha.

There's a place I took in San Diego that didn't care about my aftermarket CAI
