Its frustrating that its a known issue and looks like if you're out of warranty you're out of luck

[QUOTE=W4rMach1ne;8692139]Why do you recommend doing?[/QUO

When I had my motor go I asked the dealer to layout their warranty repair plan/process. It included replacing the entire bottom end of the motor, crank, bearings, main bearings. However, they weren't going to tank the motor or flush it and claimed that changing the oil would do that. I opted to front the difference between the repair and crate motor which was worth every penny.

Thats a band-aid repair to get you out the door. If there has been any damage with the contamination, which there will be, the car wont' ever be the same.

If you do the repair make sure they do it the way an engine builder would do it, or take it to an actual engine builder.

First post here. We got our 2010 2LT in 2010 motor went at 17k. It was in Feb of 2013. It was strange, it was fine till I left a stop light died instantly. Pulled into a spot. Tried to turn it over nada. Threw up traction control issue. Turned off traction control and then tried to turn it over. Yeah it was bad, horrible metal grind sound like the rod was broke. So needless to say motor was shot. The dealer handled it pretty well. They picked it up where it sat. Replaced the motor. And returned to our house. Now it has 37K on the car so I have hit 20K since the motor was replaced. Here is to hoping it doesn't have any more issues. The only other problem I have had is the passenger air bag cover cracking.

Mine skipped a beat yesterday.
Was accelerating hard and when I came off the gas it didn't want to change out of what I think was 3rd or 4th gear #V6auto
It stuttered as I braked to pull over ... I let it calm down, switched it off for 1 minute and restarted and all was fine.
Something stuck?
24,000 miles on the clock
Oil changed once or twice a year at around 3,000 miles and during annual service.

I have no information that says it makes any more power than the original LLT that was in it. Haven't been to a dyno

My dealer put a crate motor in, the only thing that transferred over was intake/exhaust manifolds and front accessories. They did a $hitty job doing it (had to take top half apart when I got it home) but they did it.

From what I read on the forums a while ago was it is mostly the 2010 models and early 2011 models.

Add me to the list. Oil consumption issues from day 1 and now a spun bearing... while out of warranty :(
I'm just looking around now for a used LLT to do an engine swap myself I guess- never done one before, sounds like fun
