Complete speculation. The might as well have said that they're making a GT600 with a 600 hp turbo 4cyl

I don't care if its a GT350, GT500 or SVT Cobra but that rendering looks pretty damn awesome to me.

The rendering has been around for a very long time. But the "rumors" I've read say the GT350 would be a Z/28 competitor, and the GT500 would remain as a HP king.

This^ The rumor mill has the GT350 tagged as the "stripped" track car. Ford would still need to offer up a high hp version

"The powerplant is expected to be high-revving and derived from the GT’s 5.0-liter Coyote engine, but will feature a higher displacement and be significantly more powerful. It won’t be as powerful as this generation’s GT500 with 662 hp, but it’ll see impressive gains over the expected 450 hp from the GT"
hmmmm............ I wonder what this engine will be. A 351 5.4-5.5L about 480-500 hp 440-460 tq maybe. wait no ford has to go overkill to be relevant so 525 hp 500tq |

If this is true, it sounds like it would be a slightly bored out/tweaked version of the Boss 302 engine.
If by 5.8L, you mean a version of what is in the GT500, then no. That is just an enlarged version of the old modular 4.6/5.4L architecture, not the Coyote engine.

That is possibly the ugliest rendering I have seen for the next mustang. I know retro is dead but if they go with a car close to that then they might as well have a Korean badge on it!!!!
