My G2 was a very early model. I ordered it before they were on the showroom floor and waited 8 weeks for it to come in. At that time it was a very different look. Only great memories of that car. The only problem I had with it in 4 years was that Chevy didn't bolt the battery down and they kept cracking. So we had to construct our own brace. But that car shined.

Great Resto Just took a trip down memory lane I had two of them, the first I totaled in an accident, the 2nd one I sold to my girlfriend for an '85 Z/28. The first was black on black, the 2nd was black on white. The first one had the rally wheels like the ones you have on your car but didn't have the chrome pieces in the middle openings. Those look sharp I later upgraded to chrome Cragar wheels w/ deep dish in the back and standard in the front. I also had those chrome trim pieces on the edge of the doors like you have, it's a great detail touch

I don't have any pics because I lost them from moving :( (otherwise I would share) God I had so much fun driving those cars I'm now saving up to get a Z again, maybe another Z/28 (5th Gen) Congrats on the restore, she's a beauty, and just let your daughter enjoy the ride shotgun

Thanks a lot. Car is gone, about 5 years ago now. Daughter loved the car so much she saved up to get one. Bought a '79 and while I was getting hers roadworthy, allowed her to drive mine for about 3 mos. She ended up pulling out in front of a mini van and basically totaled the car. I could have restored again, but time and money didn't permit so I sold more or less for what I had in the engine. I spent 2 years doing that car and loved it, but also learned all the little problems with the second gens, like the door rigging is a nightmare and those doors weigh an absolute ton. Still, loved that body style. Would like to do another as well, but don't believe I ever will. When I was done had approx. $14K in the car. A lot of Year One stuff.
Best of luck in your next project and thanks again for the kind words.
