whats the difference between the Eaton detroit truetrac diff VS the JRE built rear end? can anyone shed some knowledge. both seem like "built" rear ends...no?

Sort of. The truetrac is an entire posi unit that uses splines rather than gears. It locks when the car is going straight and unlocks around turns. The jre posi mod is exactly what it says. A posi mod. I don't know exactly what he did, but the there are plenty people on here who have the JRE posi mod and are very happy with it. I on the other hand chose to go with the Truetrac after talking with a few people. There's also that $350 price difference between the two.

Picking mine up tonight with new clutch, dss axles and JRE posi mod. The posi mod is much cheaper if you use your factory gears. That's what I chose to do, 3.45s are plenty with a Maggie on board! Ill give you some feedback soon.

OP, the Eaton Truetrac is not an entire rear differential or rear end, it is just the posi-unit that goes inside the rear end. It is a stronger alternative to using the Jannetty Posi-mod inside the rear end. I believe the Jannetty posi-mod alters the number of clutch discs inside the stock posi-unit, and possibly uses different springs to change the force applied to those clutches. The Eaton Truetrac is a complete replacement posi-unit, that uses helical gears instead of the weak spider gears that are in the stock posi-unit. Undoubtedly, the Eaton Truetrack is the better option, but it is more expensive. Jannetty will build up one of his rearends for you with a TrueTrack installed in it, it all depends on what you want, and what your budget is. Also...the Jannetty billet main caps are another highly recommended option. I just a had a local shop upgrade my rearend "pumpkin" with the Eaton TrueTrack, Jannetty Billet Main Caps, and GM 3.91 Gears. It's awesome, I love it!!!

i guess my goal would be not to have to worry about my rear end while doing the dumb !@$% i do lol i think ^^^^ the eaton truetrac + jre caps would be a healthy combo. not sure about steap gears just yet

I did the Eaton with 3.70s ...caps etc...........Ordered it all from Ted and put it in my self........love it every time i drive it ....

The track I go to is 2 hours away . I put a set of DR on the other day picked up a coffee and drove the speed limit 55 ish (unheard of ...LOL...) and got 29 mpg Imp.....24 US mpg Call Ted and do it you will love it

It is! We have CT-70 and a Z50 that Ted restored in the showroom

My first bike was a 1970 Z-50. Gas tank was held on with a piece of rope because a car hit the bike at some point.
