feelin better now

reality is sinking in that there will be so few I will likely not get one or they will be priced for the porsche/ferrari crowd. My local dealer got a few new 1LEs and I have to say they really look sharp...my biggest complaint is the 20" wheels...they just stick out too much...I would much prefer the 19" set up on the z/28 other than that I'd have fun with the car and maybe not punish like the z/28 but have fun...and at least a nice stereo and "cheap" rotors.

...I just might make it through this...wink wink

Exactly! Remember those sweet Z/28 wheels will be available. And you can get good money for the 1LE/ZL1 wheels.

...I personally dont' feel it's going to be the price, it's going to be the number in allocations made available. The Z/28 will not eclipse a comparable Corvette in price per pound<over simplification>.

A set of Z/28 "fender fillers" on a 1LE would cover some of that tire size illusion...

Some 18s fit on the 1LE, even lighter. But even with the 20s the 1LE is sweet. If you start with the 1SS 1LE, then add the BA stereo and NPP, you can stay under $40K. Then with the $25-60K you save over the Z/28 you can get a Mazda CX-5 for the winters and at the high end also a Miata or BR-Z for autoX.

I think the Z/28 wheels will be very very light. Plus they look great!

One leads to the other. Even if GM prices it at a base of say... $62k, because of the limited production and even scarcer allocation there's no way you'll get one for that price. I'm going to guess the stealership markups will start at $75k and there'll be the Euro exotic car buyers with plenty of money who'll snap them up at that price. As a result, regular Camaro customers won't have a snowball's chance of getting one.

Sad isn't it? Especially for the many on here who waited patiently for the car to come out...

And for those that fought to bring this car back.
I was going to dip into my retirement fund but now it may not be feasible.
I guess the blue collar worker is just SOL.

....Yes, we all will.....When, truth be told, the Z/28 has served it's purpose already for a lot of us: It will get you to the showroom...and, if the Z/28 is not the car for you, for whatever reason, there are other models that will make you plenty happy...

....The seed for track performance and "racing" has been planted....If we don't buy a Z/28 right now...well, perhaps someday....just sayin'...

And from a straight-up practical standpoint, if you are not a frequent tracker, or, a slowpoke on track, you don't *need*:

- Carbon brakes
- Torsen diff
- Forged wheels
- Dry sump engine
- Tranny and diff coolers
- 50 treadwear race-rubber tires
- DSSV Dampers

Face facts and be honest how you will use a car. If you just like the look of the car, and never plan to visit a track, buy a different model and/or add some cosmetic items and make your wallet happy.

Anyone here know how much those Trofeo tires cost? ~$540 ea. You'll get about 5000-7000 street miles out of a set. Or 4 track days if you're an aggressive driver and are careful to properly adjust hot pressures.

Chevy clearly said, this car is not for most people. You already know "speed costs, how fast do you want to go?" :-)
