Speaking of auto and manual any owners have thoughts on which is the best way to go? I'm looking at picking up a ZL1 as a DD and I prefer manual but will consider auto.

The auto is faster and as a DD I think you would enjoy it more. The auto in this car is fantastic, if you put in manual it is a beast and adjust to you driving characteristics. As long as you are driving aggressively it will maintain the downshift or go to a lower gear if necessary. And with the paddle shifters will basically make it a manual without the clutch.

Nice car, looks like you waited too long. Great everyday vehicle, I avoided the sunroof. Great ride, magnetic ride is second to none. Amenities are great and the vehicle has great composure. No major callouts besides getting xpel for rear quarters and area near door, rock chips. I loved the manual. Had a 2013 BMW 335i and drove much better and ride quality was far superior.

Yea man, a lot of criers around here. I just ignore them and laugh. Especially when they start calling you names and such like there in second grade. Bunch of internet tough guys. Gives me a good laugh though. Lol!!!

I love my manual transmissioned ZL1. But from a performance OR a DD role, an auto is serious badass.

Yes, the manual is fun but the 6L90 is one extreme transmission. I would not hesitate to buy a ZL1 with an auto. The only reason I have the manual is that it was on the lot and the numbers were right! I would never think to rule out a performance car just because it had an auto.

Why? Because I've owned three '87 Buick Grand Nationals and an '87GNX over the years and even that 200R4 auto was a blast to drive at the strip. And for a DD, you can't beat an auto, especially in traffic.

This ZL1 reminds me a lot of my GNs and, for a lot of reasons. I think that is why for me, it had to be black!

Minor complaints...

Con 1: MyLink interface is not that good. Slow, Looses contact with iPod occasionally, freezes randomly. (This is a platform wide problem - not just ZL1)

Con 2: You run the A/C a lot to keep the cabin comfortable. This due to the motor being supercharged with the integrated intercooler and the way the car draws air into the cabin. I notice this much more on the ZL1 than the 2010 2SS i owned.

Con 3: Sticky Goodyear Eagle F1 G2 tires throw up all matter of sand/pebbles onto the back side gill areas. Others buy mud flaps to minimize this issue (mentioned already here).

Pro: The biggest surprising pro for me, other than the immense power and awesome handling, has been the automatic 6L90 with TAPshift. This has been really fun in normal driving and works surprisingly well at the road course track.
