Not sure what world you are from. What does a 580HP ZL1 and a 412HP Mustang GT have in common? They run 12's....

With cadillac suspension technology, the camaro will be quicker then nearly every car in the world. I still doubt the gt500 will match the zl1 till the end of a straight. Imo.

The Boss ran 12.3@115. The ZL1 ran 12.3@119. Not sure what formula youre using for that statement that shows how nearly 200hp more will give the GT500 an "edge" in the end.

It's not surprising it destroyed the Boss, the power deficit is just too great to make up a 20mph difference in speed on the straighaway. They should test it against the 2012 GT500 since the GT500 is also faster than the Boss. ZL1 is definitely a bad ass car.

Great articles but funny that in both, fair or not, the ZL1 still seems to exist in the shadow of the upcoming 2013 GT500.
Numbers are about where I thought them would be for magazine testers and less than ideal conditions, especially on the drag racing portions. Better 1/4 mile times are sure to come, I'm sure, once they run them on an actual prepped track. |

The 130+ hp plays a huge role in tracks like the Mazda Raceway where there are several high speed corners and very long straight after heading to a very tight sweeper. The 302 LS made the fight in the tight corners. IMO, we can't holler WIN too much about this just like current GT500 can't rightfully claim WIN vs the SS. Overall, the ZL1 is impressive! No need to test the ZL1 vs. 2012 GT500..the ZL1 will better it in every category IMO. We just have to wait for the new ZL1 vs. new GT500 in a few months. I wanna say, DAMN, the ZL1 impresses me a great deal and I hope GM will use the ZL1's suspension technology in the Z28 and offer it with a back seat delete.

you do know that 12.3 was on a very crappy track even the people testing it said this. Saying on a better track it'll do better and i bet once this gets in the hands of other people to it'll run high 11's stock especially when its broken it

I guess the mustang fan bois are ignoring the fact a professional driver (independent) basically said the Boss Laguna Seca is technologically behind the competition. Even though the Camaro has a hp advantage, their straighline performance is very close, which goes to show what superior engineering the ZL1 has on a road coarse vs Ford's very own statement that the Boss 302 Leguna Seca is the best turn key track car they have to offer. It got it's ugly rear end handed to it by a 4000+lb monster.
