it was asked "how extreme?"
Carbon fiber lift off hood carbon fiber fenders carbon fiber trunk remove all seats - install light weight driver seat remove everything inside the doors (i do believe there is some sort of crash bar in there) lighter wheels can be had removal of heater core/radio/dash in general Ti exhaust You could probably take a few hundred pounds out of the car easily. Now do you want to take those pounds out? From 505hp and 3800lbs to 625hp and 3500lbs could be achieved without much effort. How much that will throw off the balance of the car etc remains to be seen (im a drag racer at heart - weight is weight to me ) |

The only difference with weight in the twisties vs. drag, is that a heavy car set up right can pull as many g's in a corner as a lighter car can. In a drag race, always bet on power-to-weight, and remove weight from the nose back.
Obviously the Z/28 has already proved that. Three areas to concentrate at would be wheels-tires (simply because 1lb acts like more), corner weight reduction improves turn in and can increase g's, and high weight to lower the CG.

Lightweight clutch and flywheel, aluminum or Ti lugnuts. Don't know anything about the weight of the DSSV dampers but I think I saved 4-5 lbs per corner with my coilovers , Pfadt gen 1s, gen 2s are even lighter. Real racing seats.

How about removing the wiper arms, rods and motor? That has to be a few pounds.

Gosh dang, you guys are a lot more aggressive than Id imagine.
Here a fairly simple receipt for approx 150 drop. Lets call this stage 1.
I will post a stage two but let me know if theres something that might still be considered stage one. Or is we should subract anything from stage one and make it part of stage two. |

Is there a thread or link to a good solution for a lightweight clutch? Are we talking LW, single-mass flywheel as well? And if so do the worms come out of the can in regards to torsional vibration issues with the crank/dampener/pulley(s)? Just thinking out loud here. I already have plenty of worm experience and prefer to avoid earning more

You could lessen the weight by stripping the windows out and save about 8-10 lbs if you were strictly tracking it. Just wouldnt be ideal for rainy weather track days lol. If you wanted to lighten the load of this car to purely track it, I think you could get rid of at least 100lbs. Thats not even having to think about what to strip. If you stripped out and replaced with lighter parts as well as deletes, Id imagine you could get close to 200lbs stripped if not more fairly easy.
