Bad MPG
I reset my average mpg after every fill up and I constantly get 15 MPG in the end, in a 2012 1LT RS! LOL. I drive it pretty hard almost all the time, and for me to eek out 18mpg I literally have to drive like a grandma. It's not even worth the extra few miles per gallon to not have any fun. If I had the v8, I can imagine I would be getting like 11 mpg. More fun with less fuel economy > no fun

i can understand the frustration...considering i'm on my 2nd 2012 camaro and for some reason, this one gets less MPG, despite the same driving style and routes taken. i was averaging 21-22mpg in my 1LS, but get 17mpg driving the same with my 1LT. same engine, same transmission, basically the same car. even the tire PSI and the gas i use are the same.

I have a 2011 SS with supercharger and some other goodies and I average around 14 MPG. I just took a 2 hour trip and got 18 MPG and that was a pretty steady 80 MPH on the turnpike. I did see a couple Mustangs and had to show them who was the boss so I'M sure that didn't help.

ummmmm, was MPG really a consideration when you bought this car? I mean noone wants to get 4 MPG but your talking a couple difference a gallon.....18MPG is a win/win if your driving this car like its supposed to be driven.....
If this has you irritated or scratching your head, you bought the wrong car.... |

I reset my average fuel economy every time I fill up also, and I usually end up around 16 mpg. Roughly 75% city and 25% highway driving. It's a manual SS, and I don't really drive slowly. You must be running that thing pretty hard.

Have you tried calculating your mpg's the old fashioned way? Take mileage divided by gallons = mpg

I seriously don't understand this. I average over 20 mpg in my ss and I don't drive like a total grandma. I'm not slamming on the gas at every chance but I'm also not afraid to thump it if I have the chance.

Ironic since I just posted today that my SS is only getting 12 MPG and that's seriously light footed driving.
My 2012 LT only got 15 MPG when I had it under the same conditions. I believe GM overstated the MPG ratings on the sticker of more than a few cars in their lineup personally. |

I average 21 in city? And I step on it whenever possible.

I get 15 mpg in mixed city driving and I drive in a spirited fashion. I do coast as much as possible in my SS M6. That's about 16 litres/100.

I'm averaging 24.5 mpg with my 2LT, I must be driving like a gramma. Oh, wait I am a gramma. I don't baby it, but get good mpg. I don't do a lot of city driving though.

The wife and I just took a 450 mile trip. Mostly freeway driving and got 25 mpg and part of the trip each way was over a mountain pass.
Only town driving and I get 16.9 mpg. 2SS with a manual. There is more to life than gas mileage. So while I check it, it is not important to me. Checking it is just one more indicator to make sure it is running right.
