Shorty headers will pass smog okay because they don't move the cats at all.

This is awesome news. I think that just finalized my decision on the LT's and cam.

Shorty headers will pass but you will still need aN eo number that is in the works, at least with D/T. they should have it in time.
CAI's I dont know if that will happen. No carbon trap in the lid, or no lid at all, will not pass.Just put the stocker back on. |

Air Raid is the only CAI, at this time, with an EO number. I talked to the folks at Doug Thorley they are working on a EO number and hope to have it sometime this year.

Macwest,
Is there any way to confirm re: EO #? I was unaware of this and checked their website and could find anything referencing that their product had been issued an EO number. Also, does that mean that the Airaid intake I have on my car doesn't need to be R & R with the factory CAB for smog inspection purposes? Allen

CARB Question Clarification
Gentleman,
Just to end any confusion on the subject, the AIRAID is not currently CARB exempt and is still pending with CARB. NO CAI on the market is currently CARB exempt for the Camaro application. Thanks, David Last edited by Airaid Filters; 01-28-2011 at 10:04 AM. |

Does this mean we Californians can start saving for stroker engine builds?!

as long as it looks stock under the hood, doesn't cause ECL to come on and logs within acceptable emissions parameters...yep. But if u use non-CARB after market (visible) parts such as heads, and the tester discovers it during the visual, you'll wish u were still completely stock. It is a gamble but most testers have no clue.

This is great news for us!
As always... any visually added parts that have no CARB# will fail. This is not new... Whats great is that elimination of the sniffer test... I believe this means you will see some much nastier H/C, strocker cars filling the streets. Its the sniffer that has kept MANY of us in the baby isle of the CAM store... sounds like my TVS LS3 will definetly be getting that big blower cam always wanted! on the OB2 side, they are only looking for red flags on the computer. my last car had the triggers all turned off. so removing any smog parts kept the computer from throwing any flags... as long as you have NO CEL, than you are AOK. this is almost as good as it gets.

My DT shorties already have an EO number on them. Stamped into a plate that is welded on to the left header... ????
