No, I'm just asking how anyone could know (other than a GM insider) how it feels, rides, handles, etc. The OP was asking a question that can't really be answered until the car is actually driven. The FE4 on a different kind of car will feel slightly different.

If you think SS with a bit less float you'll have a good feel for the revised FE4.

Sorry, I was in suspension short hand. I refer to shocks and struts as dampers because that morre acurately reflects what they do. The real shock absorber is the coil spring. Dampers are there to control the compression (bound) and expansion (rebound) of a spring or the way they handle energy. Think of a pogo stick. When you compress the spring it stores energy and you bounce up it is releasing energy. That is what a car is like without dampers (shocks or struts). The program for a damper, the damper map, is controlled by valves in the unit. If you increase bound damping the coil will compress slower. If you increase rebound damping the coil will expand slower. Vice versa is true.

The new 5th Gen suspension will will have greater control with a revised bound and rebound map. That control will reduce overall suspension travel. or in short hand, less float.

Other revisions to the sub-frame bushes and sway bar geometry will result in increased stability.

Hey Pete, Since your the expert here, are us guys with the 2012 FE4 suspension still going to be able to use lowering springs designed for 2010-11? I don't plan on anything more than just a slight drop so the springs will be my only concern.

Noob question: You guys think we will be able to retrofit the 10-11 models with the FE4? I got my 2011 recently and then found out about the FE4. Or would you recommend something aftermarket?

The biggest change in the FE4 (IMHO)is the way the rear sway bar connects to the RLCA. The mounting point has been moved very close to the hub. This will increase the efficiency of the rear bar. The change in geometry coupled with an increase in the rear bar size will make the FE4 equipped 5th Gen a more balanced car.

My guess is the rear arms and new bar will be able to be retrofit, but that is nothing more than an educated guess until we have on in hand. Can you use aftermarket products to achieve the same improvement? My answer would be yes.

Thanks Justice Pete.

From looking under my car it does look like the new sway bar will have to be very close to the wheel if it is to go on the outside of the shock. As far as the new damping, is that just a different setting or would I have to purchase new shocks and or valves?

I know, it's hard to have all the answers right now without it being out yet but I do appreciate hearing the opinions of the suspensions guys.
