What is THE short throw shifter for the Camaro?

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum, so forgive me if this thread is a rehash from elsewhere.

I recently traded in a 2008 Mustang GT for the 2010 Camaro SS and was wondering "what is THE short throw shifter for the Camaro"?

On Mustang's consensus was the MGW. Yes, some liked other brands, but seemed like 9 out of 10 people said MGW, and I couldn't find anyone who bought an MGW and disliked it (myself included).

So what's the best short throw shifter for the Camaro? And once installed, will the 1-4 shift still work? Any problems with certain gears wanting to grind or "nibble" with the short throw shifters?

It's good to be back to the Camaro. My first car was a 67 Camaro, followed by a 69 Chevelle SS396. I really wanted the Camaro back in 2009 when I bought the Mustang, but just couldn't afford a new one. Now that they've been around a bit I was able to trade up!

Thanks for the opinions in advance.

Wouldn't be surprised if MGW or Barton take the vote over the Hurst... they both replace the whole shift frame and arm where Hurst just replaces the arm. I'd like to get the Hurst myself but just for nostalgia sake.

MGW. I can't find anything not to like. George put mine on right there at MGW (free install) and a day or two later, I was driving the Tail of the Dragon, giving it a work out. That was last summer and I've put nearly 20k miles on since the MGW install.

I have yet to purchase a short throw shifter yet so I can not speak from experience, but I do know that a lot of people here also like the MGW. I plan to purchase the MGW based on the feedback I have read from those who own it. The main reason is as Scrapppy666 stated it replace the entire assembly.

Sorta. The OEM Hurst is a 22% reduction in throw whereas the aftermarket Hurst is 44%

Barton does not replace the whole thing.
