Well I was in the same predicament as OP. Coming out of 1LT/RS. Was looking at 2012 2SS/RS or 2012 GT Premium with all comparable options. I went with the mustang. The difference in price came out to be a little over $6000 and at that rate the camaro's sharkyness didn't win out. I ended up paying ~$32k out the door. Test drove both of course and the mustang just felt better. The Camaro leather really didn't impress me (once again I'm coming out of a 1Lt/RS).

You probably already have the ford mustang and just want to steam us the camaro owners. If you are a camaro lover like you said you are you wouldn't ask us for our opinion.
I am a true camaro lover and nothing compares to a camaro.

OP, if you want a Mustang, get a Mustang. It has a nicer interior and Ford Sync, which is way better than what the Camaro has. I think most of us would argue that the Camaro looks way better, but this IS a Camaro forum, after all. The Mustang is a great car. Most of us think the Camaro is better, though, and that's why we bought one.

But you should get what YOU want. A bunch of strangers on the Internet that are extremely biased (as you can see by this thread) are hardly gonna be too helpful.

For looks, the Camaro hands down... I cannot stand the rear of the 2010+ Mustangs.. enough so that I wouldn't buy one... HOWEVER if you can get past that... the new 3.7 V6 Mustang is a great vehicle! The 3.7 is very mod friendly! Especially when it comes to Forced Induction!

I like you was in the same predicament I had a hard time deciding on the Challenger versus the Camaro, the Camaro won out on appearance and the interior. but the challenger felt nice to drive other than I found it to be very big on the interior.
Get what you like ,test drive both and which ever one you feel most comfortable with, go with your guy instant, your going to be the one who drives it.
Good Luck

I'll caution anyone actually considering a Ford to throw SYNC out of the decision making process. For what it is, it's way cool... when it works. And the problem is, you EXPECT it to work. So when it doesn't, it just pisses you off.

The SYNC in my Mustang has had a couple minor burps in almost two years... but the SYNC in the Taurus is completely hit and miss. Never know when it will work at all, and then if it does work, I never know what functions will be taking the day off. Right now it's completely dead, and has been for a week or so.

The thing I don't like about the v6 mustang is that from behind its painfully obvious that it's a v6. My friends never know if my car is a v8 or v6 and most everyone has been surprised at my answer. Not to mention the incredible amout of people who want to talk to me about my car in general. I get a lot of respect driving around in the camaro. Not sure a v6 stang has ever gotten that and I see plenty of them down here in the sunshine state. I'll warn you that it seems v6 stangs are mostly driven by older couger type women. That's who I always see driving them anyway. I also live on the beach so maybe that's why I always see women driving.....I will say as (I scan through my memory) I always see groups of girls in mustangs and usually just two dudes in camaros.

Unfortunately he, like I, live in Canada, we pay 5-8k more than Americans, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE MADE LITERALLY A 6 MINUTE DRIVE FROM MY HOUSE!!!! lol

A quick backstory: I am graduating from University this December as an engineer, and I have a job lined up starting Jan 3. It's time to replace the 98 Ford Escort coupe. I've had my eyes set on a Camaro LS or if I feel I can manage, an LT RS.

However, Ford has some really great incentives this month. Mustang V6 Premium Coupe with $3500 cash rebate, $1000 Costco rebate, and $500 off for Cash for clunker's equivalent.

And thats the premium Mustang V6. The end price is around $26.5K CAD after taxes, where right now I'm looking at about $30K CAD for a base model (LS) Camaro after taxes. That's with the steelies (hate), no fog lights, and limited MP3 connectivity. I love the Camaro LS but I really wouldn't be satisfied with the steelies. I can't justify driving off the lot not 100% satisfied with my new car.

I haven't test driven the Mustang yet, but I feel if I do, I'll be so excited about it and it'll be really hard to justify coming back to the Camaro.

And that 3.7L Mustang is quite impressive, it (apparently) handles really well and you can't really argue with the 0-60 of 5.1 sec and the 1/4 mile in 13.7 sec. Those numbers are superior to the Camaro's.

Alright, bring on the bias. Help me out, I'm a Camaro owner and love em to death, but the price difference is a whole vehicle class difference right now.
Go ahead and get that ........then come over here and say that you did a mistake and ask for help ,again .

Decide what vehicle you want, not what you can currently pay for it.

If you want a vehicle just to have a new vehicle, then for sure the price will be more important.

In the end while you may save a few dollars on the Mustang over the Camaro, you'll still need to make sure you'll be happy with the decision well after the price difference would become irrelevant.

If nothing else, don't make a decision under pressure. You should be happy, not stressed, about the purchase.

Talking

Buy what you want BUT;
Nascar mfr wins Chevy -632 Ford-592 Mopar-200+
NHRA Pro Stock Chevy has won most

But I must say that a buddy I play golf with bought his wife a mustang cause she wanted one and she likes it. Also, I dated a girl who drove one and she liked it.
