1LE Craigslist Ad.

So i came across this gem on CL, and figured it would be worth inquiring about.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/ctd/3559775828.html

Quote from the sales man in my e-mail.

Quote:
MSRP on this car is $45,988 plus we added $10,000 of extras to it. The only rebate is $500. This is a very rare car!

Buzz
So then i asked what the $10k plus in upgrades were. And get this in reply.

Quote:
Spoiler, radar, painted bow ties on wheels , grill and rear, tint out

Buzz
Sounds like maybe some dealer markup to me.

Feels like there is never any point getting your hopes up on advertised price that GM puts out with out dealers really sticking it to ya.

So i mean you do agree that's just plain ludicrous. Thing is a few people have said good things about this dealer not going too far above MSRP.

Is it pretty much an insult to approach a dealer with a printout from GM's website with exact specs of what you want and expect them to give you MSRP?? I mean of course fees come in to play, but you see what i'm saying?

You're trying to buy a car from a guy named Buzz. You don't see the problem?

Edit: I bet his last name is McDoucherton.

There are plenty of good dealers out there that sell at or below MSRP. I dont' know why it seems so many people think all dealers mark these cars up.

The chin spoiler is part of the $3500 performance (1LE) package.

The vinyl hood wrap, smoke gray spoiler, 3:91 rear end, close ratio transmission, oil catch can, monotube shocks, Brembo brakes, ZL1 bearings and other suspenion parts, larger front and rear stabilizer bars, higher capacity rear axle shafts, and 20" black ten spoke wheels (10" front, 11" rear) with 285/35/20 goodyear F1 supercar G2 tires are also part of the $3500 package. Oh, and so is the little badge under the hood which says Chevrolet performance.

I did everything they did, except the radar for $30 worth of materials. $9 spray can plasti-dip (black), $9 can of color matching paint, $3 role of painters tap, $7 role of paper to mask off area. Took me about 5 hours to complete. 30 minutes to mask off and 10 minutes to apply per coat and 15 minutes to dry per coat.

While I don't agree with the price of the markup, I can see why they are marking it up. Free oil changes forever would cost around $3K after only 100K miles and then they are giving you a lifetime warranty on your powertrain. I think it should be at most $5K, but it is what it is. In the long run, it could be a good deal

Unfortunately there are people that do not do their homework on the automobiles they are purchasing.... So I'm sure they are hoping for a ill prepared customer....

This dealer (Sunset Chevrolet at Sumner, WA) is the worst dealership around that I have ever dealt with, and I've seen a lot. They had a ZL1 last summer that I was interested in. Their advertised price was $2K off MSRP, so I was very interested. When I drove down there, all in a sudden, they say theres been a mistake, and the car is in fact $10K above MSRP. Their salesman literally held me hostage, and in the end, he started insulting me, saying I must be a fool to pass on this instant classic, and that I am insane. He kept calling me for 3 days until he finally found a stupid buyer.

Stay. Away.
